The nba trash now ,worst it’s ever been in my life. Use to be my favorite sport,I looked forward to opening week like Christmas:wow:

Now I don’t watch at all, it sucks :load management, blatant tanking ,jacking 3’s every game ,star players always injured etc

Damn shame what happened to the nba :francis: . I’m a bigger mlb and nfl fan now , this league is trash

You know it's bad when you got players acting like primadonnas more than basketball players. The rising stars game was cool but today was trash. Hopefully the all star game is good. I'm over here watching unrivaled basketball
Highlights over today's events.

Jaylen Brown spoke about players doing a 1v1 type of play too. Guess it's all on the league or players. Some might be scared to play in that format.

the 1 on 1 thing is problematic because once you do that, then having an all-star game at all is pointless (Unrivaled isn't doing that).

Unrivaled is doing it for a prize that's bigger than a max deal they could get in the WNBA. If the NBA is gonna offer $50 mil to the winner of 1 vs 1, but only $500K for a play-in title you're pushing so hard, that's a bad look.

We've low key reduced our interests in ASW to a 3 point shootout and a 1 on 1 tournament. Throw in a celeb game and that's pretty much it.

I honestly don't think players are afraid to take a L as much as they're not gonna wanna hear about it every day for the next year cuz that shyt will resonate with fans. No matter what you do, how good your team was, how nice you played in a big spot, someone's always gonna say "so what, such and such bust yo ass thoooo" Women's basketball fans can handle a tournament like Unrivaled. NBA fans can't, and now the NBA has let a lot of media who are just influencers and content creators come in who will just amplify that as opposed to the actual goals in mind.

I assume it's because unlike TNT, NBC is a local station and they have pre-scheduled time slots for other programming such as the local news, etc.

That's one of the reasons why on Tuesday's NBC only airs one of the night's doubleheader games and the other is broadcast on Peacock. So the games don't overlap with local programming :yeshrug:.

TNT is a cable station and I assume the NBA by way of Turner Sports had more control over its scheduling block which is games and post-game shows often went past the scheduled time slot.
The All Star Game being at 5 PM or 6 PM EST was happening with NBC from 1990-2002. Same type of deal during Olympic years.

But All Star Saturday was on TNT for as long as I’ve been alive it feels like. They were airing it in the 1990s until 2025.

Unrivaled has been pretty interesting though :manny: But this current format is starting to get really played out. It doesn't have that luster it once had from like 10 years ago or so.

As someone who regularly attends, I agree that it has lost its luster. I honestly think between the NFL and NBA, both have outlived its usefulness. It was supposed to show people who otherwise couldn't watch these stars get to see them on a big stage. We see them all the time now. The idea that "ooh he can make a name for himself this weekend" is kinda done. I saw it slowly turn as far back as when the game was in NYC and people were choosing SNL40 over the game that night. I also think the players getting a whole week off made players wish they didn't have to go to ASW. You can go to some remote location from Thursday to Wednesday and rest up and live in paradise or spend 3 days answering questions about tanking and legacy while also essentially networking the whole weekend. NBA ASW is basically NBA-Con. It's Comic-Con if you forced the actors to reenact "Avengers, Assemble!"

Nothing can impress us as fans anymore and the players kinda know that now so they just wanna get through their commitments, fly somewhere for 48 hours of whatever and gear up for the stretch run. It sucks but I don't blame any one thing. Nobody has the heart to dead it altogether, name the all-star teams, let everyone reset for a week and move on, but that might be the best thing.

A bunch of all-stars have already backed out. Luka and Ant are barely gonna play. You might get a couple of guys who really wanna get after it tomorrow (THAT is how you can build yourself up among fans now, treat it like a real game) but otherwise halfway through we're gonna wonder why we're watching this.
