This sounds like bullshyt for a number of reasons.

As an asthmatic I don’t see how you die in two days from not having access to your regular inhaler.

He must have been out for a looooooong time.

You can buy Primatine OTC as a stop gap.

Seriously? I know a woman who died from an asthma attack because she forgot her pump in her office while she went out to get some lunch. Subsequently having an asthma attack without her rescue pump and dying.
