Where I grew up (middle of the country) It was whites & blacks basically. All I knew about Hispanics was that ugly ass music Mexicans listen too. I didn't care for em. But then I moved to Cali and nikka... they DEEP out hurr. I still don't really feel for em, but I've learned that we (blacks & hispanics) are closely related and I think they adopt our culture so much because of this, most of us just are ignorant to the fact. Latinos are a perfect example of what happens when you mix races, the kids grow up having an identity crisis calling themselves a nationality because they weren't taught about their racial heritage.

I grew up in Brooklyn and while most of my friends are Latinos(mainly puerto rican) a vast majority of em are on that . I can't speak for hispanics on the west because i've never been there but i noticed that when ever i watch a tupac video or any other west coast rapper's video, majority of the racist comments comes from mexicans(judging by their avi and user names like 'LiLj0k3r619'. I've also read some bigoted shyt on sites like brownpride(hispanic st0rmfr0nt).

Hispanics/Latinos are the main group of people intimating blacks. They're the main ones calling themselves niqqaz,sagging their pants down imitating our slang yet they look down on us as people. They're basically taking our shyt while shyting on us.

Why do we defend these bigoted fools?

I used to post on NikeTalk and i noticed that blacks are usually the ones making threads about racist shyt a white polictian said just to try and form a coalition with latinos. You'll never find a latino making a thread defending blacks, would you?

Ricans were involved in the creation of hip-hop in the mid-late 70s. They were there from the beginning. So whether or not they are racist, we can't separate them out from hip-hop culture as if they were latecomers who jumped on the bandwagon.

It is a fact that hip hop was started by a Jamaican.
It is a fact that not one single 'rican' had an inkling to do with hip hop during "day 1" times, so to speak.
It is a fact that they only became familiar to it because they basically lived right down the block anyway, went to the same schools as the Black kids, etc.
And even then, they weren't "on" hip hop. Didn't give a fukk about it. And the ones that did were frowned upon by older ricos or downright forbidden.

It is a fact that those early latino rappers only were accepted because they got a proverbial "pass".. which essentially just symbolized the same tolerance that had began to take place in the hood towards them.

Naturally, the hip hop industry reflected that.

But that is lonnnng after "day 1" times.

And finally, and what I regret to admit most, yes many of them are downright RACIST, untrustworthy, and will literally smile in your face and turn around and stab you in the back.
You are only useful to them because you're Black, which equals "cool".

Hispanics were hip hop from day one because they were living in the same areas, but did they contribute any real technical input, because I understand they were more like bystanders who just happened to be there and witness the birth of an art form. In fact, their input was minimal at best because their hispanic background did not embrace Black culture. Its no different to Europeans claiming they are responsible or had a hand in ancient Egypt because they want the glory.
Theres nothing about the Latino culture that Blacks fukk with, but they copy cat everything. That should tell you all you need to know.

It's important to note that the South Bronx was actually majority Puerto Rican, NOT majority Black during the era when hip-hop was created. That doesn't mean Puerto Ricans created hip-hop, but their contributions can't be ignored.

Most of the b-boys in the original Zulu Nation were Rican, not Black. The United Graffiti Artists, the first major graffiti organization in the country who eventually merged into the nation were formed by Hugo Martinez, a Rican. DJ Charlie Chase from the Cold Crush Brothers was Rican. DJ Disco Wiz (who formed Mighty Force Crew with Grandmaster Caz in the 70s) was Rican and Cuban, as was Prince Whipper Whip, another member of that crew. Vico C, the Mean Machine, Devastating Tito, DJ Master O.C., Prince Markie Dee Morales, The Real Roxanne... and this was all before Run DMC even existed, ie, before 1981. There is no doubt that Puerto Ricans were part of even the earliest days of the culture.
