I’ve been seeing wayyy too many stories of black women having complications during pregnancy and even dying. It’s heartbreaking.

My mom works in labor and delivery and I’ve heard some horror stories. It makes no sense that so many black women are dying to give life.
the difficulty is not natural. There are external factors that are going on causing that

I knew as soon as I saw the article what the case would be it makes being black that more stressful you can't even get sick because its likely they'll finish you off on the table.

or neglect you till you die either way if you got viable organs they'd rather have you dead than alive :wow:

had to deal with some thing similar recently with my sister

had terrible stomach pain blood when she goes to the bath room losing weight the whole 9 looking like death walking

hospital run test say its a parasite give her meds but nothings changing they dragging their feet

on getting her into seeing an intestinal specialist its like the first of the month an they say best they can do is end of the month for an appointment

so our brother in law (who's a doctor) calls the hospital gives em an ear full they get some one to see my sis that week

come to find out its stage 4 cancer..... so yea you gotta press them an stay on they ass when you feel like you really need help

her doc wanna call an apologize all after the fact for not doing more :stopitslime::pacspit:
Reading this post made me so angry. We are constantly under threat by every institution via systematic racism. From the moment we’re born to the day we die. shyt is disgusting. I’m only gonna have black midwives too (God willing) when my other half has our children.

My grandmother lost her leg through about the same process ignored complaints . . .I wanted to go back and beat everybody ass but i'd literally be on some punisher type of shyt with a endless list of enemies who all played a part in medical neglect, hell they overdosed her at one point . . it's a fukked up feeling to watch someone in pain in the people who actually could figure it out don't give a fukk . .while you sit up wondering and wishing you had the knowledge yourself.

This is real shyt.

About 10 years ago I had a cut in between my toes. Didn't know there was a cut. The pain got so bad...I couldn't walk on my foot. I literally limped and hopped into the hospital. The ER saw me after 2-3 hours, and just said I had dry skin...and gave me the equivalent of neosporin. I saw another doctor, a few days later because the pain didn't go away and my normal doctor was booked up with appointments. They just told me I had athletes foot and gave me that shyt you put on there for it. It wasn't until I saw my normal doctor where he said my foot was severely infected from the dry skin on my foot. Had it persisted longer it could have become gangrenous and potentially would've needed amputation.

Some mothafukkaz don't care when it comes to black people and will be quick to write us off...

Same shyt with my step pop...he died some years back from cancer and for months...like a year they said he had tuberculosis...don't even know how you mix the 2 up...

The treatment of black patients in hospitals reminds me a lot of the treatment of black children in schools. Both issues are largely driven by white perceptions of black people, and how those perceptions are expressed via action/treatment. I remember long ago my mom showed me a video about a study on racism. A group of white people were shown a video of young white children throwing rocks at train tracks. The responses from the white people were entirely positive - "oh look at those kids having fun, I used to do that, etc." Later they were shown a video of black children throwing rocks at train tracks and their opinion completely shifted. "Where are the parents? They could hurt someone. I hope the police were called, etc."

A black woman walks into a hospital and the staff thinks welfare, attitude, no father. Anything she does, even the slightest thing, confirms those things to staff...and they treat her accordingly. She could be nice and courteous, but if she rolls her eyes after waiting in the lobby for 10 minutes that's all it takes to "confirm" the perception.

A black kid in school gets into a fight in school and he's a thug forever. A white kid gets in a fight in school and it's boys being boys, or a minor mistake to learn from. It's far easier to not give a fukk about people when you perceive them as a problem.

I know  It kind of makes me scared to have a child now.

Don't be :shaq:

Being serious though..don't. I'd recommend sisters be a lot more proactive in finding a doctor (midwives are a lot better tbh). There's not a lot of us in that field but if you can find a brother or more likely, a sister, in that field..scope them out. A lot of them, especially the sisters I know in the field, are top notch. I personally know two who run one of the best OB/GYN practices here in Charlotte..me and my lady used them for all the services above for my twins and it was excellent.

Don't fukk around with your prenatal care, delivery and postnatal care...a lot of females see the licenses on the wall and think any OB/GYN is good to go. A doctor being a doctor don't mean shyt..a lot of MDs say "fukk it" once they get licensed and go off script and go from being a good doctor to the nikkas that create Frankensteins. What makes it fukked up is that if your doctor does fukk up, YOU have to get a second opinion about the injuries you suffered from another doctor before you can go ahead with legal options. The problem is that a lot of doctors do not want to be responsible for another doctor losing his license, gettinf sued, etc..so a lot of them will refuse to go on record.
