Might be a homer but I'll have to go with french, especially if you already have some rudimentary knowledge, might as well build on that. With English and french you cover most of the african diaspora (I'm talking about mainly first or second generation diaspora, not considering Latin America). Plus English-speaking countries that are coming up in Western Africa (mainly NIgeria and Ghana) border francophone countries. I'd add Portuguese because those countries are also on the come-up, and Brazil is moving towards investing more in Africa so you might cover two continents right there, plus Portugal obviously. I don't really see the added value of Spanish when considering the African diaspora. I wanna say Swahili too because I feel it's better to learn local languages if you can, but like breh said maybe they all do speak English, I guess it dépends if you gonna spend time in those countries like that. Arabic would only be to treat with the North African countries, in other African countries Arabic is mostly spoken as a "second" language, known but not the natural local one. Even less so than French or English from what I've seen.
