People's number one complaint about the game was the passing, maybe they went overkill but at least they were listening. Maybe it's best to learn the new control scheme for maximum control.

the passing was the WORST thing last year. If that has been fixed, I might cop, cuz the CPU's awareness with the passing has been straight horseshyt in both 2k12 and 2k13.

The Passage of Time
Exploding off the dribble with players who can do so.

I have been trying to figure this out for a minute and a light bulb moment just hit me while in Scrimmage. When you do those escape dribbles or crossovers and stutters, make sure you have the left stick pushed towards the basket and pulling the L2 trigger for sprint at the right time . My success ratio has gone up and I'm developing a "fighting game" list of controls to counter if he gets to the spot before I do. I am parrying and countering and sometime just beating him to the spots when my timing with the left stick and sprint are on point.

something about the jumpshot physics dont sit right with me......

-rebounding, floor spacing has improved for sure
-AI team mates still seem dumb like last year
-the layup animations are pretty good, i havent gotten the brick layup animation in a while, but some of my "normal" layups brick .... :deadmanny:

also, wtf is the deal with some of the new controls

i couldnt abuse my oops, and spin layups anymore :to:

Sure, outside of the gameplay there has been very little change, but if youre looking for something to play with your boys the gameplay alone is worth the purchase.

-Spacing is one of the first things I noticed. You no longer have to worry about court traffic, isolations literally give you an island. You can create actual space and the 'open court' actually exists.

-Players feel heavier but are also more fluid. Pretty nice balance.

-Defense is vastly improved. On-Ball defense is actually effective if played right and there is a noticeable defensive difference between say Steve Nash and Avery Bradley. The block engine is quite impressive as well. I would be lucky to swat a shot in 2k13, I had 7 the first game I played. The system seems to be purely based on attributes, athleticism, size, and timing. The system is done very well, and it makes getting beat off the dribble less detrimental.

-Rebounding is more logical and gives the user more control. Bigger guys with high rebounding attributes are absolutely devastating on the boards. No longer will the CPU outrebound you by default.

-Sig skills are more pronounced. Not over-the-top but much more noticeable.
i still aint feeling that shot stick and dribbles moves change. do i like how well you can link together dribble moves? YEP. but its like they want to be nBa live with the dribbles but dont yet understand how they did it for elite and had one controller being completely your legs the other your arms. 2k hasnt figured it out yet because they still leave the slight crossover on the left analog stick. it should not be possible to do a crossover with the left analog. not even a simple pitter pat from right to left or left to right. the left stick should be your legs ONLY. in addition they still may need to tighten up the controls they have currently. still times when i'm doing a move at the top of the 3 point line and it shoots a stupid heave shot. i didnt do that.

but as far as gameplay. its pretty darn good and i like the fact you get more body contact and foul calls.

oh, and i hate they changed the alley oop to be the X (shoot) button instead of LT + the A button(pass). they think because the alley oop goes so high in the air its like a shot. no its not. its a pass with arc on it. put that back on the A button and give me my double tap A button(pass) back. not that new crap that makes the guy fake a pass and do a slight head fake all in one animation. FIX THAT :comeon:

So most of you guys have no patients for the new controls? I can understand, I was feeling the same way, but I just kept at it by doing the same moves over and over again I until I learned them and moved on to another set of moves. The hardest part is the Modifier which is so in grained in your psyche.

Tip: Lower your Def. Assist in the controller settings so you can move faster and get to spots on defense, it is defaulted at 50 if you higher you move slower, if you go lower you move faster. Figure out your comfort range.
