This was the second time he was hurt at the end of the 8th. Caught with a counter/exchange on the chin

In all honesty fam, I think you're overselling him being hurt. Spence still looked composed and had his whereabouts, even punched back. Spence just looked like he got rocked a lil and he had to gather himself back real quick and that was that. The punch snapped his head back a lil, but it really wasn't a hard concussive shot like that. He clinched and wrestled a lil cuz thats what you do when you a lil buzzed. That's regular boxing type shyt to me. He wasn't even hurt enough for Brook to manhandle him in the clinch so that kinda shows you the extent of that punch's power.

Hurt is like Cotto hanging on to Chop Chop for dear life.
Hurt is Thurman damn near getting bodied by Lopez in the 7th.

If punch effectiveness was a scale of 1 through 10 with 10 being 2 of the above examples.....Spence got hit with something that was like a 6. Decent shot that if you catch it wrong, might buzz you, but if you have a chin and some smarts you can recover from it quickly.

That's how it looked to me though. We all see things differently.

If any point in this fight he starts looking for a big punch KO he's gonna lose a lopsided decision. Spence has to press Mikey and beat him to the body early and often.

This shyt should be on regular Showtime and not PPV . Every Spence fight dudes talk up his opponents and what Spence does "wrong," and somehow miraculously he fukks them up come fight night (this shyt has been going on since before he fought Algieri ). Yet, after the fight people start acting like they knew it was going to be the mauling it was. Talking about dudes defense like he's Margarito.

His defense isn't even bad. It's not like dudes are just hitting him with ALL kinda shyt. He's just not scared to be hit. There's a distinct difference. Brehs are so accustomed to these current Adrien Broner ass fighters they can’t discern the difference. I re-watched the Lamont fight again this morning. Breh landed less than 10 legit, “Okay, good shyt,” punches on Spence the whole fight.

Spence is a natural fighter. He's wired differently. I mean, how many World Champions in any combat sport can you think of that would be willingly trading body blows and risking injury, damage and all of the above on some just because shyt with a breh off the street?



It's like Ward said, He doesn't know what Mikey's looking at. He has nothing for Spence. Someone like Crawford that has elite in and out movement/quickness, controls the fights with his jab, and generally makes you pay for misses would be a great challenge for Spence. Hopefully, that or Porter happens after this bullshyt.

A dude that just stands in front of Spence and tries to hit him with one or two shots off counters or one punch right hands, naw. Unless we’re talking about someone with devastating prime Tito power or some shyt, which Mikey isn’t going to have at 147.

You're right he did clinch but watch his legs & his demeanor change. Both times he looked like his legs were shaky & he fell/retreated into the ropes. Spence is also a professional so even if a shot hurt him he's gonna do his best to sell that he's not that hurt. That's what good pros do so they don't get buzzed or hurt more

In this case, its more about who punches better.

Brook a naturally bigger dude so he naturally hits harder. I doubt Mikey could buzz GGG with a combo. The thing is though Mikey punches much better than Brook and gets the most out of his shots. Brook doesn't punch as good as Mikey does on a consistent basis. You're going to get a mixed bag of pushed shots, cuff shots, good shots....With Mikey you're gonna get accurate snapping hard punches every time out no matter the opponent. Mikey always whips his punches and gets max leverage on them.

You can punch harder, but not necessarily better. To me there's a higher chance of the better puncher making an impact than the harder puncher.
