His pen game isn’t “questionable” the half a nikka straight up uses GHOSTWRITERS and there are entire reference tracks to prove it.

Not just a verse
Not just a verse/hook
Not just the flow

The ENTIRE muthafukking song. The man’s a fraud as a writer.
That's the same reason why I can't put Eazy E, Dre, or Kanye up there as the best rappers ever. Ghostwriting is something I will never compromise in my list

If Kendrick was ever revealed to have ghostwriters, he'd be off it too

I’m not putting him over kendrick or Cole in terms of bars. But he’s right up there with them in terms of impact and definitely over Krit.
I respect it. Future is definitely, imo, top 3 most influential since 2008

Wayne, Lil B, Future, Keef, artists like this have made their mark through many of the artists that followed them

Ok but even using this criteria Artistically, lyrically, musically, impact, legacy, hip hop, the criteria your using that is one of the 6 points he’s lacking. The rest of the points Drake is just as strong or stronger than Krit, Kendrick and Cole.

Dr Dre and Easy E werent strong artists on their own atleast Kanye proved he could rap by showcasing his free styling abilities back in the day.

You might as well just kept it as an MC lyrical point. Like one of the grandfather goats said.
Drake doesnt kill features like Cole. He doesnt make masterpiece albums like Kendrick. He hasnt made multiple classic mixtapes like KRIT

All 3 of these artists can sing. Maybe not on Drake's level. But they're versatile. Their catalog is extensive (mixtapes, loosies. KRIT has been making tapes since 2005 that are dope. Kendrick YHNIC. Cole in his Therapist era. The Storm etc.) Their music is organic. Their music has soul. They are influential

Cole - Cordae, Deante Hitchcock, etc
Kendrick - JID, redveil, etc
KRIT - Tobe Nwigwe, Dear Silas, etc

Name me 2 artists Drake influenced. It's way more than lyricism. Way more than sales. Impact. Versatility

Most importantly. They have EVOLVED as artists throughout their whole careers. Can you really say Drake has evolved since Views? And thats me being generous

Flow yes. I'm saying subject matter, punclines, lyrics, musicianship, lanes

KRIT made a neo-soul love album last year. Putting opinion of it aside, Drake hasn't taken risks like that since Views with his dancehall type songs he had on here

Controlla was fire. The original version slapped

When I say I was a diehard fan of Drake at one point, I was dead serious. Drake hasn't taken those risks since 2016. He's safe. Her Loss was safe. It was simply WATTBA with 21 Savage

Tootsie Slide was a ploy for tiktok users. Alot of his music post-2016 sounds generally the same. Which is why I feel like he fell off

The only thing he's made that moved me from his last 3 albums was Liability

Especially the one without the screwed slowed pitch

The really bad part of this, is Drake has made this type of song before. Jaded, I wont even post the other similar past joints

Kendrick, KRIT, and Cole almost never play it safe. Kendricks latest album was the complete opposite. Just like TPAB, an album he dropped after the GKMC acclaim

He couldve went pop and played it safe. He didnt. Same with Cole after 2014 FHD. He didnt. After KRIT didnt get the sales he deserved for LFTU, he couldve reached for sales and made mainstream-pop/easier digestable music. He didnt

He made one of the greatest mixtapes of all time. King Remembered in Time

Kendrick made Section 80. This was technically a mixtape. Classic. Overly Dedicated was dope

Cole. 2 classic Mixtapes. The Warm Up. Friday Night Lights

Drake has So Far Gone. And he has never completely strayed away from that sound ever since. That's the difference

Long post but this needed to be said

How hasn’t drake strayed from that sound? Drake was on afrobeats before the shyt was popular in the west. To be honest a lot of Kendrick’s themes are pretty much similar which is himself involved with the black experience. Cole does the same but not as detailed. Drake raps about what’s going on his life and the relationships he has with people. It might be boring compared to the other two because it’s less thematic. But Drakes music is very relatable or it use to be to most folks which you can’t really knock him for that.

Drake is still a king for me. I just hold him to a different esteem now

2008-2013 he was in my top 3. Not anymore. But Drake will go down as a legend. That was never in question. It's just what his legacy entails and how it's been shaped by his art throughout his career

Ok but let’s be real what are Coles classic albums? For me it will always be Forrest hills drive. Drake dropped Views the same time for her eyes only and dropped Scorpion when Cole dropped Kod which both in my opinion are the stronger albums.
