Been a long time since I've updated this thread.

I hadn't really travelled for leisure in like 2 years but i did get up to about 45 countries visited now.

Flew out to Dar Es Salaamm, Tanzania (Zanzibar is like a 2 hour ferry ride away) with one of my boys this weekend.

It's cool but supposed Mombasa is better if you want a comparable vibe from what i hear. When it comes to Zanzibar i prefer Seychelles over it. Again better comparable place to me.

@6ixSigma

how can I work abroad like you do in qatar?

Main industries Americans are working in are Oil & Gas, Defense/Aerospace/Aviation, Medical, Teaching

Indeed is always a good start: Job Search | Indeed

But times are hard in the Middle East just like anywhere, but then again you never know who needs your skills so i wouldn't let that stop me from applying to a role.

Dope thread bro, don't watch the hate because people dislike anything outside of their comfort zone.

I will follow you on insta to support

I've grown a lot since i first started this thread. I really didn't care back then but now I've come to accept that some people on The Coli don't believe in a life better than their own.

Hey Fam

today was my first time seeing this page and I recently added you on IG. My question to you is, which country in Africa is the most welcome to black Americans that are looking to possibly move / retire there in your experience.

Follow-up: Which of the countries you visited would you feel comfortable permanently living in and why?

Hey Fam

First off let's set the record straight that as an American you are doing significantly better than your average African. To most you're "rich" so like anywhere if you're spending money then you're good.

I can't say which country is most welcome to Black Americans because everyone has their own experience. I'm a South Africa kind of guy while some of my Friends love Kenya and Ethiopia so it depends.

I will say that I will retire in South Africa though. I've been about 4 times now and love the place, people, scenery, bang for my buck with the USD, and it's the most westernized African country in my opinion.

Is the racism and white supremacy a parent in South Africa? I’ve always wanted to visit Egypt and morocco as well. Ideally I would want to start north in the continent and work my way as far south as possible

Racism is defiantly apparent in South Africa. Blacks in general are treated as second class citizens. It really does suck.

However, if you have money, things change. In my South Africa travels only once did i experience what I would consider a s racist and that was the server at a restaurant sitting a white couple down before me when i got there first. Needless to say I didn't spend my money at that institution.

In regard to Egypt, the history there is immeasurable but Cairo had way to many people and made me feel unsafe as literally anything could have popped of at any given time. However i would like to visit some other places outside of Cairo.

At first i wasn't sold on Morocco but now looking back on it, Morocco is a vibe. It's basically the Thailand of Africa lol

OP do you find it kind of backwards travelling to all these countries when citizens of those countries have been coming en masse to the USA?

Leaving the USA seems like hustling backwards.

Maybe because I live in a diverse area of the diverse DMV and can access 100s of cultures at a moment's notice

Do you plan on Visiting West African Countries

I would have been visited Nigeria and Ghana( if we got visa on arrival). However my mentor (and close friend) is living in Ghana now with his family so I'll likely make a trip this year.

Americans are like the only people from the developed world I've noticed that don't travel.

I'll answer this more after some thoughts.

Maybe because I live in a diverse area of the diverse DMV and can access 100s of cultures at a moment's notice

Going to China town and going to Chain are DIFFERENT
Going to an Italian restaurant vs a restaurant in Italy are DIFFERENT
Seeing animals in the Zoo vs in the wild on a safari is DIFFERENT

I could go on an on but it's really an immeasurable experience.

Leaving the USA seems like hustling backwards.

To each is their own
