Republicans ARE the problem. At least to a large degree. They don't want to progress along with the rest of the country. They're concerned with mask mandates and CRT, meanwhile we face the existential threat of climate change and wealth inequality that rivals the Gilded Age.

Lets just give them Texas, Florida, and the rest of the southern states. Perhaps then they can live out their hand maiden tale fantasy.

While enjoying absolutely zero of the GDP output of the US. Republican states straight up don't provide GDP. They hate the states that actually create jobs but require the money we take in
