Breh them degrees could be free, they'd still be struggling on their low ass income. These folks tryna make it to Hollywood knowing damn well the chances are damn near impossible.:russ: You have to know people to really get in that bytch. Anything dealing with Hollywood media or music is CUT THROAT. Fools are delusional thinking they bought to be the next Picasso dropping 150k like some idiots.:mjlol: Most them art graduates would still be bums even with free college.

Feel like with art...just go to a state school with good art programs and save the money.

For stuff like film/directing etc., the school doesn't matter as much as what you're doing on the side. You need to be making your own films using whatever equipment you can find. It's gotta be a passion for you.....but you don't need $300k in debt to do it.

Pimping these kids. These advisors and gatekeepers at these schools need to have a HOH stance and have them sign a waiver saying if you crap out its all on you. Nobody told you goto a fukking 60k a year school for fukking Art. These elite schools are selling promises of being able to jump economic classes. They forget alot of those kids in NYU and etc already come from households with high income and networks with high paying jobs by the time they are freshmens.

Stop getting bullshyt ass degrees. :yeshrug:I don't see Doctors, Judges, Pharmacists, Dentists, or Finance majors complaining.

Look at this bullshyt.:mjlol:

"Master of Arts in film and media studies"

"Master’s degree in publishing"

"Speech-language pathology"

"MFA film program"

"Aspiring screenwriters and directors"

You dey talk like you no get money. Pharmacists and speech and language pathologists make similar incomes.

Lawyers, Nurses, Doctors etc all complain about student loans. Sense dey leave your brain stranded for Gilligan's island oooo

I went to school for film as well... At a state school I could realistically afford ($7,200 annual tuition) :yeshrug:

I stayed just long enough to get what I needed out of it and bounced, never finished my degree but I built a network while I was there that's landed me on a couple Hollywood productions here and there, and nets me 7-12 paying gigs a month on average. Built all of that in 2.5 years of schooling, and cultivated the majority of it via a black filmmaker network that I founded on campus no less :wow: But I went to school knowing I wanted to get all that out of it, I made a lot of moves before and outside of school to make all that possible.

USC/Chapman/NYU/etc. and all that is nice if you got the money. Otherwise:francis:

AND they went to grad school, so you know there was no scholarship money involved :hhh: grad film programs are scams period.

It really has to be stressed to young people that college is an investment.
Your degree and your ability to network and hustle matter.

Simply going to a big name school doesnt mean much on its own.
and a worthless degree and huge amount of student loans can ruin your life.

To be fair, speech language pathology isn’t a bullshyt degree… buuuut you probably shouldn’t be spending 100s of thousands in student loans from Columbia to get it.

Anyone can make those degrees work for them if they’re willing to make a few sacrifices. The problem is THINKING that I got random degree from a tier 1 school entitles you to immediate employment. I’ve already begun fixing my resume for when I graduate grad school in December. No way I’m staying at my current role making 55k, but my hustle is different. I understand that I continuously need to gain skills and experience to get ahead. Next step is 75k or better

Yeah a speech language pathology degree actually trains you for a tangible, in demand job. Thing is you shouldn't spend over 100k on it.:francis:

Your degree should be valuable no matter what it’s in. It’s not like people are telling these kids to pick worthwhile degrees or whatever. These loan fools just sit back and get money. They’ve done this for years and years smh.
