Bonobo is a variant of the Chimpanzee family-- the most docile version of the Chimp. So Halo is really talking subliminal shyt.

If anything, it was a placeholder name as a racist joke that forgot to be changed. Just like the free battle pass placeholder was called “Moochers of Reach”
