If they would have said that at E3, the reaction would have been completely different. But they didnt and they still have not explained what they were trying to do :manny:

I think its all in theory. You can't just say hey buy all your games online it will be cheaper... eff walmart and best buy. Cause then where would you buy the system from?

That's why we stay losing... We should have been all for this but boycotted both because we aren't getting 1080p 60fps.

Nothing in microsofts past has indicated that they would go this route.
Games on demand are full retail years after release
XBLA games barely ever go on sale.
So you think ms out of the kindness of their heart would lower prices? :stopitslime:
This is just wishful thinking IMO.

I don't think Kindness and business mix. but the reality is if they stopped used game sales and lowered prices the games would likely sell more. If you sell more that's more you make off DLC. If you can't sell your game its more likely you are going to purchase that DLC..

this is the same article that came out last month. if they were serious about a cheaper gaming price, they would lead with that instead of the kinect and always online. my thing is this, we all know how greedy M$ is. what would be their motive to lower gaming prices to $35 after they've removed used games? why would they just decide "hey, you know what we should do? let's cut our profits!"

That's what they want you to believe. I don't buy it. You talk to any Gamestop employee and they'll tell you how many people bought TLOU with money they got from trade-ins. MS has to prove they'll be more like Steam than like GoD. I'm not going to have blind faith in that and say that MS should go all digital or abandon all used sales.

if publishers out and said $35 games and you can share with 2 people, i'd be cool with that.

I don't think it would cut profits... It would raise profits. It would take the gamestop billion dollar stake and transfer more of it to developers. With the exception of EA I believe better profit = better games.

All the proponents of this online requirement kept saying games would be cheaper... Why didnt Microsoft announce that all their first party games would be cheaper than e 60$ retail game

seems like a pretty hypothetical situation. most 'AAA' games on Steam aren't that cheap at launch. granted some of that probably has to do with 'price-fixing', and these companies not wanting one platform to be significantly cheaper than the others. but still $35 seems like a very wishful number

Why would you? I don't think $35 is that mark but I think essentially it would allow prices to come down quicker... More sales and some of the lesser games could start off cheaper. I think ultimately this will happen. You can see it with the Forza Betrayal... They are saying you are pretty much going to need online. My guess is they have family share and offer games cheaper. Maybe 5 bucks.
