So I'm a heavy Sketchup user considering my job so if any people need some advice, tips or anything, I can provide. I'm not a an expert but I use it quite efficiently. I thought about using 3DS Max during a year a few years ago but I missed the easiness of Sketchup and my habits with it then came back and stuck with it ever since.
If you use it, there is a great way to display your creations online now, which is named sketchfab (example not from me) :

Essential sites for anyn sketchup use :

By the way, is anybody here in the rendering business ?
I coupled Sketchup with Maxwell Render 3/4 years ago (when all my mates were with Artlantis) but been slowly moving to Vray for a few months now. I'm still in the learning process and I don't find that software as ergonomic as Maxwell but I appreciate its speed which is the key in rendering software when one has mastered material creation (which is not my case :lolbron:)
I'm trying to decide which software will be the best between all the existing ones above all with new ones like Shaderlight, Thea render (which seems really good) or Twilight.

Just found out this sub-forum existed :dwillhuh:

I'll post some of my stuff in here soon...
What are you using ? Are you in the architecture field as well ?
I'm looking to master a render engine (VRay at the moment) because I feel like my photoshopped exported images could be better. Plus, I'd love to really give exterior scenes a realistic feel that I can't do with Photoshop because I'm not good enough. I have already a gang of Vray materials but I want to create my own library but will only be able to do so when I will have proper knowledge of the engine.

I'm not, but I work with people who were in the field and use both 3Ds Max and AutoCAD. They also use VRay to render their stuff. I have more of a gaming background and what I do is a mix of both programming and 3d modeling. Haven't really messed with AutoCAD or VRay myself. The tools I mostly use are 3Ds Max and Adobe Creative Suite for other graphic design/texturing stuff.
