lost all respect for jay...like some journalists are saying, he has no ethics at all."after the news broke that JAY-Z’s 4:44 went Platinum in less than six days, many people wondered how that was possible when it was only available to stream on TIDAL. It turns out, Sprint — the company partnered up with TIDAL to push the album — bought 1 million downloads."

I saw you make this same post in another thread...I haven't saught out any reviews for the album but I got the feeling that the general consensus was that it was good.glad the album is getting panned by a lot of critics. It's wack, and it looks like Jay Fraud got himself another fake plaque

So many crabs in a barrel
The system has pimped artist since the very beginning but y'all in here looking down on the artist pimping the system
yeah, I think everybody who bought a phone had the album and it counted as a saleshoot
I lost respect for jay about 15 years ago.
wasn't there some bullchit w/ Samsung concerning the MCHG album too?

tbh. Most artists celebrate their plat plaque because it means the world for them...it means people were supporting AND listening to their albums.that's not pimpin the system.
stop it.

This platinum plaque is fake as fukk. The sprint users who received the album probably didn't even give it a spin. There's a huge difference between people listening and supporting your music and having compagnies to buy your own shyt

Pitchfork gave it a 8.4. Rolling Stone 4/5. It's sitting at 82 on Metacritic on right now. Some publications also gave it a perfect ratingthat's not pimpin the system.

Billboard reports that it was the free downloads offered by Sprint that gave 4:44 the certification. Those downloads—offered on July 2 on the website 444.tidal.com after you entered the voucher code “SPRINT”—were purchased by the company for distribution. That purchase counts as a sale: An RIAA spokesperson said that sales count toward certification if it’s either purchased by an individual or a business that purchases the release and offers it to customers. Those customers would have to take action “affirmative steps” to receive the project (in other words, U2’s Songs of Innocence—which foisted itself on to people’s iTunes—wouldn’t quite be eligible).
