pension is better if you can get it. my job gives you 2% of your estimated highest income per year.
so If were to work for 30 years and I got paid 100,000 at some point.
I would get 2% of 100,000 times 30 every year until I die.
60,000 dollars a year for doing nothing is a pretty good retirement package.
but even if I don't make it to 100,000 a year. I could be happy with a pension of 30,000 a year and still be good.

Seems most companies are ending pensions.

I only got about a year or so at my current job in pension before they froze it and worked it into my 401k...i think

At least put it into real estate. Own a few rental properties and commercial buildings...they don't have to be huge places either.

Just remember, there are front running super computers set up at the exchanges that siphon off a percentage of every dollar that you put into a 401k. Look up high frequency trading.

i rock with the 401K because my job matches it and every year (if you dont specify) your contribution amount goes up 1%. I know some people who can afford it will contribute 10% or even more but right now I'm doing 4% while I get myself stable. I have a little over 8gz in there right now since i havent been at my job, but its a good look to have this $$ being saved up every check (we get paid every week)

dont really consider myself "counting" on it for the future because i'd want to think that my work trajectory would render a 401K or social security useless as I'd wanna be raking in $ hand over fist

My company matches up to 6%.
I think it used to be more. I forgot though.
