Good for him, no drooling on himself, no forgetting how the phuck he got somewhere and why is he there, no needing help wiping your own ass, no violent outbursts against family............
Arrive, get paid, leave. The new NFL.

I'm not saying this is happening because Harbaugh left, but it is a weird coincidence to say the least.

2 players retiring way early. Another retiring when he had an extra year or two of good play left. Others with no intention of returning. Harbaugh will be missed.

What a dummy. Stack a few yrs worth of those checks and retire @ 28 or so.

i mean after one year though? them rookie contracts aint even all that great to begin with :wtf:

what is he walking away with? :dahell:

play at least 3 years and save money during that tenure then retire. But retiring after your rookie year with the new NFLPA rookie contract rules is dumb as hell

Play 3 years? You're still on that rookie contract. You want to destroy your brain permanently for a few hundred thousand?

Ya'all acting like if you only play to 27 or 28, that you somehow avoid blasting your brain to little pieces. They're finding COLLEGE players with that disease where your brain starts filling up with little holes. They say that even guys who just played in high school have a higher chance of early-onset dementia/alzheimers/other mental illness. And by "early onset", we're talking in your 40s, early 50s at the latest.

I stopped playing before I was 20. Multiple serious knee injuries my sophomore year in college, rehab went poorly, by the time I could play again my life had moved on to God and other things and I hung it up. I never would have been a pro, of course, but was expecting to play 4 years in college. Now I have permanent knee problems and am getting early-onset arthritis in my 30s...but I still wonder if it was worth it to get out after a little more than a year, as opposed to pounding my head into O-lines and running backs for three more years.

If I'm a GM I'm putting retirement clauses in the rookie contracts. If they retire before the contract ends, the team gets some of the signing bonus back.

Borland must have something planned. He was a history major, so I know he's not getting a job with that.

but it's a gladiator sport :skip:

It is though...Even as a huge football fan, I imagine one day I'll be trying to explain football to my grandkids one day and they'll ask:

"Y'all filled up stadiums with over 50,000, sometimes more than 100,000 people and huddled around televisions to watch men or children run full force into each other? Y'all produced and televised segments where y'all laughed at these guys getting 'jacked up'? Y'all really needed some doctor to tell you those collisions and getting knocked out was really bad for your health? And y'all considered yourselves civilized? :dahell:"

And all I'll be able to say is: "It was a different time, son :beli:"

Hes got a degree in sports business/management from Wisconsin-Madison, which is basically public ivy league school. We had Coach Anderson quit after 2 seasons because he couldn't get Wisconsin to lower the academic standards to be accepted into the college

He will make millions of dollars for sure.

If he has a plan, good for him. The OTL stuff just screams I want attention though.

This isn't a big deal though at all, but this thread is funny.
