I grew up in the Bx and bodega was what we called it. shyt, when I lived in Bk as an adult people called bodegas bodegas.

As a midwesterner ive met 3 types of New Yorkers. Brooklyn, Bronx and Long Island. New Yorkers let me know if I’m off base.
Brooklyn people are very outgoing, loud and brash and will tell you 5 minutes from meeting them they are from Brooklyn. Also any situation go wrong or something bad happens no matter how small they immediately say “ah hell nah I’m from Brooklyn!” and immediately go to fixing whatever problem just happen. Besides that very lovable people.
Bronx people always seem more low key and wary of others. When you ask them where they from they say “Bronx” under their breath and leave it at that. Also seem to be more Latin culture mixed in. Seem very loyal but difficult to read emotionally. There is definitely some pain there.
Long Island people mostly white, not much different in demeanor from midwestern cats honestly besides the accents. Honestly the accent they put on sometimes seems forced. Also from what I’ve been told by long islanders is that going to the city for them was like someone from America going abroad.
