So for an artist to "blow up" in 2014 I'd imagine they would have to have a buzz for at least a year or two. For example, Rich Homie Quan and Stalley have not blown up yet and more than likely one of them never will. You gotta look at freshmen from at least 2010-2013 to have a shot at blowing up this coming year. With that said, here's my list of potentials:

Set to make major noise in 2014 (meaning one of these guys will be Grammy nominated in 2015)
Schoolboy Q (not many new artists out of LA holding it down like Q)
BJ the Chicago Kid (will build a buzz similar to Frank Ocean via song writing, however doesn't have as interesting of a back story to share)
Dom Kennedy (getting really popular in the lane owned by Curren$y and vacated by Wiz)
Chance the Rapper (or maybe 2015)
Jhene Aiko (know she been around for a while, but her buzz is growing)
Aloe Blacc (been around for a minute but getting a lot of exposure with 2 songs featured in commercials)
Travi$ Scott (but there's a chance he's gonna fukk it up)

Also here's a list of artists who unfortunately might never blow :(
Vic Mensa (too many dope rappers came up the same time as him, now all the steam is behind Chance)
Stalley (just never caught on, wrong era)
Logic (just doesn't have that "it" factor, needs a team behind him)
IamSu (the shift from the Bay is so cyclical and you gotta be a part of a major movement at the right time)

He got a Drake song in the can. For his album. Almost every artist that Drake does a street collab with blows to the mainstage. (Future, Migos,ASAP etc)

YG had the streets on lock for a min, jus like how Future did before he blew. The single out, is jus the lay up. The Drake one is gonna be the slam dunk.

How did this nikka know about this song a month in advance :leostare: :patrice:

Yeah
It seems that hip-hop doesn't have the attention span or mental capacity to acknowledge media that isn't complimented with a video . . and then y'all wonder why the quality of the music isn't good

How many of these artists you've been hearing about are people that were discovered when you just browsed across their Soundcloud page? Nahh, everybody needs to campaign, build a movement, put together solid videos, on top of staying active getting shows which comes with a caveat of it's own hoops to jump through
Good point breh

Hopefully the industry machine gets behind King Mez this year. Cole hasn't done anything for him besides a college show two years ago smh
