Visibility = Popularity.
Popularity = Leverage
Leverage = Financial Negotiating Power
Now you're booking shows, getting endorsements, tours and interviews which all create additional streams of income.
So if you "blow up" five years from now it could be argued that the one sample you used on your first mixtape was the reason for your escalation of success.
At the end of the day - if it is at all possible to potentially make money, everyone in the process will want their cut. Even if it's just a dime.
