Without the street side to keep people engaged, he’d be Flo Rida at best, making some hit records (and still getting paid) but nobody giving a fukk who he is, which means it wouldn’t have led to the movies and investments and other endeavors he got into.

Without great records (be them collaborative or your own) you're nothing in the music biz (as an artist).
You don't have to be authenticly street to sell records, despite 50 being a more street artist.
