I think y'all missing the point and the big picture.

50 is saying that being in the streets, or being street isn't what made him the success he is today. It didn't make 50 the business tyc00n he is today with liquor, investments, headphones, and television. If he was on that street shyt or timing he would not be able to accomplish any of that. Picture 50 being on some street shyt with the CEO of lions gate, he would never get that television deal in the first place. He would be on some boosie shyt, telling people they aint black if they don't buy his film.

Somebody explain why the IRS takes your money if you don’t spend it. He said he had $38M in the bank while paying $800 rent and he had to spend his Ms.

So much stupidity in this thread.
Without great records (be them collaborative or your own) you're nothing in the music biz (as an artist).
You don't have to be authenticly street to sell records, despite 50 being a more street artist.
Many artist sold records before and after 50
Without being a certified street nikka.
I don’t think the argument here is that 50 is successful ONLY because of street shyt. But to act as though his IMAGE played no part in his success is disingenuous.

It’s earned income. The same way your job took taxes out of your paycheck already.

That's like a blond chick with big boobs who eventually becomes the head of waitresses or sumn at Hooters because she did madd overtime for years and is just naturally smarter and better at the job than all the other waitresses, who then turns that into her own multi-million dollar catering business saying "My body didn't get me here...my work ethic and intelligence did".

That's technically true but it's not fair, if not for your body no one would have even been checking for you in the first place, you wouldn't have even been taken seriously enough to be given the Hooters interview, lol

The I in Team
I watched this interview the other day and I had thought to myself ‘wow 50 has been rich damn near longer than he’s been poor’. He reminds me of that line from wolf of wallstreet:

I get his sentiment though, that previous life only brought him pain and destruction. Channeling that energy to music and entertainment has brought him untold riches. Problem is that gangster lifestyle is what made people interested in his story. He just was smart enough to parlay that into lasting success.

That was definitely his image. I'm not disputing that.
But I'd credit his catchy flows and hooks over THAT, by far.

You can be faux street or not street at all and sell records.

Take away being "Street" in image and I still believe 50 can still be successful. Take away being a good entertainer and he's nothing

With that said, i think 50 wasn't talking about his image in the first place. And solely speaking on the actual lifestyle.
