There are only 3 beats from the 80s on here :scusthov:
Only 5 beats total before the Chronic dropped :scust:
It’s crazy how the ignorant have gained influential positions and are now acting as if hip hop started with Aint Nothing But A G Thang.

Real talk. These lists are a reflection of the 'tastemakers' who are usually surface fans or catering to kids and part time hip hop fans

They will never really be for us Coli brehs so I generally avoid them but I was curious what was on it so I checked in

It confirmed my suspicions very quickly

These lists are curated by people no different from us. Just because we might disagree with what's listed, the arrangement, etc., doesn't make it wrong or right. It's a difference of taste and opinion. There's no science to it. It just is what is. If you or I made a list, some will agree and some will say it's trash.

if 100 Coli posters made a list they would be more similar to each other than this one

of course there are differences between 'us' and the people who create this. how old are you? i am older than most of the people who make these lists AND, more importantly, the people who they are made for

get outta here with this 'we all the same' talk, i know for a fact i'm not their target demo and that's cool, thats why i dont check for it
i fukks with the coli, so if a thread is posted, i might click in and see it, but trust me, outside of that i have zero interest in these lists

same way as MTV would have had Eminem number 1 for a long time... don't tell me i'm like anyone who ever believed eminem was the greatest emcee of all time 😄
cos the coli damn sure never thought that

IT Cert-Gang Mafia, GMB and HOH
Not a horrible list, but a lot of 30 and ups should be top 20. DMX, Ha,

Missing is:
Nas - Hate Me Now
Geto Boys - Mind Playing Tricks
Juvenile - Back that Azz Up
50 - Many Men
Rick Ross shoud be there somewhere. BMF and all those Lex Luger beats changed the game.

Just noticed Missy in the top 10 again. These Complex, Spotify type c*nts LOVE putting Missy Elliot ahead of legends like Dre and the like. Wtf is the go with that shyt :mindblown:

Is this Trillville song a joke? Is this an example hipsters trying to show they’re actually up on some obscure shyt? You really going to say this is a TOP 25 beat OF ALL TIME!!?
Yeah they always throw Missy on their lists way too high. Everytime.

That ain’t even a top 20 Timbo track.

Breh, The Coli has respectable posters, but for the most part, a Coli list would be worse than this one. It would have the same type of beats from the same producers in the Top 10 just because. I've been posting here for 10+ years and there's just too little objectivity and too much emotion for The Coli to come up with a respectable list. Unless I'm shown otherwise, this list >>>> what The Booth would come up with.

Even if MTV made a list with Eminem as #1 how is that different from a Coli list with Nas as #1. There are people that don't agree with either choice. It's an opinion, which makes them no different than anyone else who ever sat down and compiled a list.

That ain’t even a top 20 Timbo track.

Name a Timbaland beat with more impact than "Get Ur Freak On". We can't act like there wasn't a bunch of Bhangra beats that everybody was running with after "Get Ur Freak On" dropped. Artists still sample that beat. There's freestyles over that beat.

So what? It ain’t a top 10 hiphop beat. Not even near. That Bhangra phase was wack and some of the other Bhangra beats actually sound better than that shyt. And there’s freestyles over a lot of beats, it don’t make em top ten’s.

They always tryna push Missy’s shyt into GOAT discussions. Missy was good, but nothing she was on is top ten worthy

Tim’s influence was always bigger in RnB than hiphop anyway so his best beats are mostly RnB beats.

“Jigga What, Jigga Who” “Pony” “Work It” “One In A Million” are all waaay better.

If we're talking greatest, impact and influence means something. So yes, "Get Ur Freak On" was highly impactful and influential. Nothing like it sounded like it. And yes, freestyles play an important role in great beats.

Tim' influence on Hip Hop production is just as huge if not bigger in Hip Hop than it is R&B. Sounwave for example states that he started making beats because of "Up Jumps Da Boogie". T-Minus was influenced by Timbaland. J. Cole is influenced by Timbaland. Kanye West is on record stating he was trying to make beats that sounded as good as Dre, Timbaland, RZA, and Premo. Stevie J is on record saying Timbaland's sound influenced him making the "Notorious Thugs" beat. Mike Will and Boi-1da cite Timbaland as an influence. I could go on.

GTFOH. That top ten don’t got 1 Rza or Primo beat. You talking about influence and impact, not a single soul sample joint (you could stretch to include Who Shot Ya as a soul sample but you know that ain’t what I’m talking about) Soul samples flips are waaaaaaaay more a part of hiphop than Bhangra beats which last a couple years max.

I’m not saying he didn’t have an impact, but his influence on RnB was bigger than his influence on hiphop. But even then, if you want to argue his impact on hiphop was bigger, that’s fine, but “Get Ur Freak On” ain’t it, and def ain’t a top 10 hiphop beat.

There is no law that says a Top 10 greatest beats has to have a Premo or RZA beat or that you'd have to put a soul sample there. I can list a bunch of beats that are not listed at ALL that are as iconic if not more iconic. "Top Billin", nothing from Larry Smith (early Run DmC and Whodini records), "Planet Rock", nothing from Marley Marl made the top 10 either. "P.S.K" wasn't on there. There's no "Elevators" or "B.O.B".

What's more a part of Hip Hop isn't the point. There are a million beats with soul samples. An entire list of Hip Hop beats that just contain soul samples would be a disservice to Hip Hop considering how diverse the genre has been for 50 years. My point is that "Get Ur Freak On" changed the game. It cemented its place in history.

I was only using soul samples as an example since you said “Get Ur Freak On” changed the game because it introduced Bhangra beats. Rza’s soul diggin and Primo’s beat chopping were and still are far more influential in the long run than the little Indian style trend that came and went.

But you listing Top Billing and Planet Rock and Outkast joints is just proving my point though. There’s plenty of songs that could and should be listed well before Get Ur Freak On, which was impactful but not a top 10 beat
