I was only using soul samples as an example since you said “Get Ur Freak On” changed the game because it introduced Bhangra beats. Rza’s soul diggin and Primo’s beat chopping were and still are far more influential in the long run than the little Indian style trend that came and went.

But you listing Top Billing and Planet Rock and Outkast joints is just proving my point though. There’s plenty of songs that could and should be listed well before Get Ur Freak On, which was impactful but not a top 10 beat

"Get Ur Freak On" is the result of crate digging as well. The difference is that Tim's source came from a whole different culture and country. He talks about how the timing was different because the sample he used was different from Western music. That song opened the door to the possibilities of what you could do with sampling. And not only just the sample, the space in that beat, what he had going on with tablas, etc. This was something nobody else was doing. And yeah, it wouldn't have been a big deal if this was just some random song, but this was a huge record not just in real time, the song re-entered the charts in 2015.

I didn't say what should or shouldn't go before "Get Ur Freak On". Most of what I listed was absent from the list period.

And Rza and Primo sampled from other cultures and countries too breh. Lol. You acting like Timbo the only one diggin in foreign crates. Gtfoh

I didn't say that they didn't. And it wasn't just a foreign sample. You made it a point to talk about soul sampling and I gave you an example of this record was based on a sample. It wasn't a soul sample, but an example of digging. I'm telling you that this record was a game changer, which is why it made the list. Google the song and look at the impact its had GLOBALLY. This isn't just me posting just to be posting.

Typically, this exchange proves why The Booth could never come up with a list like this because it would end up with the same styles of production and the same producers with multiple songs, which would definitely do a disservice to 50 years of Hip Hop. There were would be a complete disregard to objectivity and a total dismissal of beats of certain styles simply because posters don't rock with it. Prime example, this whole school of thought here that "keyboard beats" often referred to as "Casio sounding beats" being something that aged horribly.

Breh, The Coli has respectable posters, but for the most part, a Coli list would be worse than this one. It would have the same type of beats from the same producers in the Top 10 just because. I've been posting here for 10+ years and there's just too little objectivity and too much emotion for The Coli to come up with a respectable list. Unless I'm shown otherwise, this list >>>> what The Booth would come up with.

Even if MTV made a list with Eminem as #1 how is that different from a Coli list with Nas as #1. There are people that don't agree with either choice. It's an opinion, which makes them no different than anyone else who ever sat down and compiled a list.
I respect you my guy, but I been here from the start too, and the green hamster wheel site before that........ Nas at 1 is more representative of breh hip hop than Eminem at 1.

yeah, it's an opinion, but there's a reason why my opinions are closer to those of a 30+ year old breh than a 15 year old creh.

Breh, fukk all that. The beat is ok but it ain’t a top ten. There are a lot of game changing beats. Just cause it was a big song don’t make it a top 10 hiphop beat. That Indian shyt played out quick. And I’m not strictly a boom bap guy. I like Timbo. Mannie Fresh is top 5 to me. DJ Toomp, DJ Paul and Lex Luger are legends.

Like I said, that ain’t even Tim’s best beat. It’s getting propped up cause it’s Missy.
