he's pulling down his 4th black man this week
#ignorecurly
He made all his artists rich, same can't be said of Jay Z or Diddy:yeshrug:

And the irony of this comment is hilarious :heh:

Jay is in my top 5....but I wouldnt argue w/ someone that says he is overrated.
He's in my top 5 strictly from the work he did prior to like 2003/2002...this last decade has been his money run.

Also...why yall catch feelings when someone just answers a question? Too many of these rap cats dodge questions like politicians.

No. I agree his later work is not up to par with his earlier work, but he is the GOAT career wise and is in the discussion for just rap skills GOAT. I mean, who's name is most often said by rappers and fans alike? Rakim. Have you heard Rakim's last two albums? Not so good. His last hot shy!t was in '97. Every rapper has sub par material. It just comes with the territory I guess.

listen to a song like dont u know. its not his best, but the playfulness with words, ryhme patterns, flows, >>>>>>anything jay did in thelast decade. and that was a throwawy song for prime jay. if u cant see thedecline i cant really tell you anything.
No, that's to you. When you reach a certain point, you can only enhance your legacy, you can't hurt it unless you do something completely left field to the point where all fans don't look at you the same. You guys whine about this shyt all the time on the internet, but in the grand scope of things, legends are legends and that cannot be taken away. If Jay-Z isn't in your top 5 all time right now, then that must mean someone's body of work surpassed him, otherwise you're holding him to a standard that no one is held to in music regardless of the genre.

No one who had the Beatles at the top took them off because latter records weren't as good. No one is taking MJ off his spot because he couldn't duplicate his early success later in his career. No one is out here saying Mariah Carey isn't Mariah Carey because her most recent album didn't sell as well. No one does this shyt in any other genre except hip hop and it's strange. You don't lose your position all time because you're not what you were at your peak. You lose it because someone can along and surpassed you. The only funny thing about this is that stans of a rapper-50 Cent (not you, just in general)-who maintained his position entirely based on sales after his debut (and has gone down in quality every time since) are now concerned about "quality" in hip hop music. GTFOH.

this is all fuzzy reasoning.

the beatles never fell off breh. thats why they are legends. their decade long run was classic after classic, innovating and evolving along the way. was no fall off.

MJ i would argue never fell off either. he may have with the public and media, but his voice was still magic and i still fxed with invincible. was no fall off for the goat.

mariah still sings great, i prefer her newer ish to that clive davis packaged whitney appeal to cacs music she was doing when she first bowed in the game.

and i am not talking about sales, i am talking quality of material. clearly jay is still relevant sales wise but in the art of rhyming and making compelling rap music? tom ford? holy grail? timberlake bodying him on his own song? come on.

BP3, WTT, MCHG, jay was the weakest on these albums, and was carried by in their prime stars. Alicia Keys, Kanye, Timberlake, Ross. Jay just phoning it in.
