thats cool, but if I'm dropping bread on an SSD, it's gotta be bigger than what's currently in PS4.
1 TB is $400 - $500. Not sure what the speed benefits on a PS4 would be, I'd imagine they would be great, but I'm personally thinking about even downsizing my 1TB HDD on my iMac to this SSD for the performance boost alone. I can use the original 1TB as an external for pictures, movies, music, etc.

80$ get's you a hybrid drive. SSHD, 1TB normal storage and 8GB fast cache. Will perform almost as well as a full ssd for PS4. Will speed up a desktop as well.

Is that right? I know on a computer a hybrid is better than a traditional HDD but still doesn't come near to the performance of a SSD. That particular drive won't fit inside of a PS4 either unless you buy the adapter to fit a desktop hd in it.

My bad yeah it should be the 2.5 inch model here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822178340 There's a bunch of video's on youtube to compare speeds. Seems the difference between ssd/7200 rpm hdd/sshd is not huge.

I thought you had to put a 2.5 hard drive in a PS4
Had the wrong model in the link, yeah needs to be 2.5

Wat do nikkas need 500GB SSDs for tho

A Windows install is like 30 GB :patrice:

I primarily run protools 10/11 and Logic X on my iMac. Everything else can go on an external to keep my machine happy. I need that performance in my life. 500 GB is plenty if you can train yourself to keep nonessential stuff on the external.

In case you missed it:

"Take a look at the images here showing the Data Bank attachment which clips on to the top of the PS4, similar in the way in which you would swap out a PS4 faceplate.
ps4-data-bank-how-it-works.jpg

It actually looks very nice and for those that have a 3.5-inch hard drive lying round, it could be a great option for you. Some gamers don’t have a problem with deleting game data after completion, but for others upgrading the hard drive will be one of the first factors to consider.
We can now give you a heads-up on the important PS4 Nyko Data Bank price and the likely release date on when to expect it. It hasn’t been made official per se, but a Nyko representative at CES 2015 told media that the price should be between $30-40 and that a release should happen in the 2nd quarter of 2015 and definitely before E3 2015 in June."
