and if i'm carrying cash, any $1 bills that i accumulate along with any silver coins go into a 5 gallon water bottle in my closet. been doing this for about a year, and it's almost halfway full.

i also do this but only with coins..i usually end up cashing it once it gets full which is right around when i go away. Gives me an extra 2-300 that i put towards my spending money.

Im going to start adding the dollar bills with it

I love this site. I've been reading a lot about minimalism and am trying to incorporate it into my daily living.

I got a good savings plan going now (1/3 of every check I get and I don't touch it), but I think I'll add this on as a treat to myself at the end of the year.

I rarely spend money on things that I want, so I'll buy something special at the end of the year.

I put like anywhere from $20-$100 bills in different jean pockets and then when I wear them like weeks/months later I get the feeling when I dig into my pockets and I find money from before.

I also keep spare money in my car enough for a full tank just in case and will start stacking some bills in my room. Just in case so I can have an immediate emergency fund. And I don't make a lot as of yet. But it's very important to save and think ahead.

Gonna talk to my dad this Sunday literally and hammer out my 401k plan I'm taking L's I'm so behind but I'm determined to retire happily God's willing.

And I only found that $100 once. I put money in my pants but not like high dollar amount it's more like club or fast food type money. At least that's how I see it.

I didn't either, so I went with www.betterment.com

Completely automated. They choose the investments for you, re-balance, re-invest dividends, etc.... Fees aren't super-low but it's a great service, and it beat the hell out of my savings acct (0.9%).

As you can see, I'm pretty happy with the returns.
