having grandkids and a defined place/role in a family keeps old folks young and mentally well tho

my in laws have 10+ grandkids and are thriving in life in a very active “big momma” and “pop pop” role with a place of love impact and respect in all their kids various households. that sense of purpose goes such a long way for well being with the elderly.

having a family isnt just about having someone to literally wipe your azz when you’re old and folks don’t really think about that until its far too late
