I remember playing HOB back when it dropped....all thru the summer. My ppl's would wonder wtf I was listening to...then thursday dropped....then EOS....my summers were lit...and still nikkas and bytches were like...who that?.....fast forward to 2016....shyt is brazy

The Weknd is done, he signed to a major label so his music can't be as left field and experimental as it use to be. He can't even explore any real songwriting because his music has be littered with hooks, you heard that I can't feel my face bullshyt? fukking song repeats the chorus like 6 times, before the song is over, fukk that. He probably knew he was going to sell out eventually so decided to release real music before he was tied under a contract which is why we got 3 classic mixtape in a years time

I don't buy being signed to a major as the reason. Frank is signed to def jam and makes experimental music, that he writes, but it's good.

The weeknd from HOB died with kiss land. Bbtm was meh.

I've been listening to HOB a lot lately, dude coulda built a legendary career. Other than hob the rest of the trilogy was forgettable.

Not sure what the terms of is contract his but some make sure they have 100% creative freedom before they commit to any terms and Frank seems be one of them, isn't fame driven and rather stay out the spotlight and let the music speak for itself.

I personally think Frank is a better artist. But at the time I thought HOb and NU were at worse equal, with HOB having better production, and NU being more well rounded.

But nah, CO is creatively better than anything The Weeknds done, just flat out better.

As I said, I give it an edge in production over NU. But I myself like many others prefer songwriting > good production. Personally think they're the two of the best projects this decade.

The Weeknd peaked creatively with HOB tho.
