)....anyone listen to Lebatard yesterday when John Thompson was on? JT raised some issues I didn't even consider, worth a listenwhen they heard about the tax implications that were like![]()
I got you when I leave work...he basically brought up the fact that players would have to opt in or purchase their own insurance, could be fired, etc...if they were to be considered employees of the universityLink?
I'm tempted to agree with you but if this was a school in a state that's not union friendly, they'd get fried. Or if it was a school with a bad rep or predominantly black players...I'd love to see the reaction if this were the Grambling players who refused to play because of the God awful conditions at their school. The reaction would have been extremely over the top and none of those kids, just as the Northwestern ones, have a chance at making it to the prosI could be wrong, but I think Northwestern was the wrong school for this to happen at. How many of those kids are there thinking they can play in the NFL? A Northwestern degree is a big deal in the real world and they probably are fine with what they are getting now ultimately ending with that degree. Plus this is occurring in Illinois where the Unions in that area (Ohio, Wisc, Mich) have been getting a bad rep these last few years with the auto industry and teachers unions...
