True, or there needs to be a casual belli to get people fired up.

Zoomers don't have a 9/11 to get them to sign up to kick in doors in Fallujah.

I wonder if the accumulation of modern war footage puts a damper on enlistment as well.

Going from stills and censored films of WW2 to onsite war correspondence of the Vietnam War-Iraqi/Afghan era to the present Ukraine conflict where it seem like there's a new GoPro/Drone vid put out every day, the reality of war is seen upclose more and more, and it doesn't seem like Call of Duty where the enemy is highlighted with a red outline.

Your life could end unceremoniously in a rocket attack you didn't hear coming, blown bits by a tank shell, or cut down by a sniper half a mile away. No heroic last stand, no respawns, maybe a little luck if they can send your body back to your family.

That being said, if you don't have much of anything else lined up for you, military life is better than being a NEET. You'll get housing, money, job training, security clearances, and if you manage to get your head straightened out, it can catapult you into almost whatever career you want by the time get out.
only thing i'll add is that you got a higher chance of getting shot in the US than catching heat like that while deployed unless you're looking for it :manny:

people really think the military is go-time 24/7 and its really like.... nah :mjlol: don't get me wrong, shyt can go left but some of this stuff is just life in general.

if life is gonna happen, its better to have some sort of security blanket than none.

America can't beat any formidable militaries.
They thrive off propaganda.

Vegeta wasted decades being a flunky when he could have taken over the whole operation if he'd applied himself.
:mjpls: "pick himself up by the bootstraps" eh?
Goku had multiple teachers, friends, and rivals who helped him and he learned from. Vegeta had to figure everything out on his own while being enslaved...

Vegeta could have sparred against all the other flunkies and got his strength up, but he was too short, lazy, and his hairline too pushed-back for anyone to take him seriously. That's why he only fought people weaker than himself.

:unimpressed: he did spar but only with people frieza allowed him to fight. Frieza was scared of him becoming a super saiyan so he limited his training to weaker opponents.

Not to mention thousands of Americans dying in a war over 9/11 with the WRONG country. The military and Bush did irrevocable damage by waging war with a country that didn't even have a military for over two decades. No one wants to die for nothing.
