a lot of y'all not seeing the point in tanking... or the sixers tanking... let me explain it to you
philly hasn't won a championship since the 80s.. we are a MAJOR market team and area... being in the 5th highest populated city in the US.. not to mention the whole state of PA (cause they have no bball team) and we have fans from the jersey, delaware area too
anyways we DO NOT want to make it to the playoffs.. we DO NOT want a finals appearance... we want some fukking rings sixers, phillies, flyers, eagles... somebody win something dammit
people talk all this shyt... we just were in the playoffs in 2012.. that's two years ago.. so really we only tanked 1 season 2012-2013... and now it looks like this will be the second one
so what did we get for almost making it to the ECF in 2012... absolutely nothing... actually got worse in the offseason.. and we have NO hopes of winning that ring over miami, nyc, cleveland, indiana, or anybody else in the east.. let alone the west.. and when superstars think of destinations, 2012 they didn't want to come here, so why in the hell would they want to now?? it's obvious that free agency isn't gonna get us rings
so that brings me to... what the hell is the plan
the plan is to get a starting 5 of top 5 players... we already have 4, but 2 are not playing right now... next year we'll have an entire starting 5, of top 5-15 picks
what's more important... they are rookie wages so we aren't paying them shyt... so we are also gonna have tens of millions in cap space, along with those players.. that's when you sprinkle the lineup with vets, players who got nowhere else to be, and hopefully 1 A or B list type star will join us
the last part of the plan....... most of these A list stars gonna be old or retired by then... kobe ain't playing 2-3-4 more years.... lebron will be 35 by then... wade will be gone, duncan will be gone, pop might even be gone along with manu, melo gonna be 30 something
so at the end of this "plan" we should end up with a solid top class of rookies... the benefit of playing and learning the nba TOGETHER (spurs shyt) for half a decade... the benefit of stars leaving, teams being weaker, and stars being older/slower.... and a shytload of cash to entice free agents who will then see philly as a viable contender the way they are stacked with young players and a lot of money.. we are essentially trying to GROW a big 3-4-5 like spurs got, not buy them like miami did
orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... all these rookies could be washed up, someone drafts a better star and makes another big 3-4-5 and shyts on us for another 10 years![]()
Who are the 4? You do know MCW is on the block and will prob be traded in offseason, if not by deadline?. Even then, he's not going to be a franchise player. Nor will Noel. They are banking to get a player that doesn't even exist yet; which means 2 more years of tanking.
Sam Hinkie actually came out and sqashed that shyt
