I just read his letter too. Its a little overdone with outside quotes, but I get his reasoning. He made a decision this was the path he would take the team, they obviously approved, and he left them with:

Okafor, Noel, Embiid
plethora of draft picks
best cap situation in the league

those things will result in good things for the 76ers in the next 3 or so years, and it will have been his work years ago that set the table

#1 pick

What? He sounded depressed through the entire podcast:mjlol:. He was talking about a bunch of nonsense to.:mjlol:

"B-b-b-but no strategy has more than 25% chance to win"

"B-b-but we got a 45% chance of getting the 3rd pick"

"B-b-but no one strategy is better than any other strategy"

I knew he didn't believe in any of this shyt when on that podcast he said they go back and they "re-do and reanalyze" previous draft for...well he never really explained why they did that...

AKA "we know we fukked up drafting all these injured big men and a foreign player who might never come over here so we sit around and think about what if we drafted Giannis..."

RIP to that coaching staff and front office staff that will surely be fired within the next few months cause they got swindled by this no upper lip having dumbass...:mjcry:
I think Brett will get one more year. He had nothing to work with but he's on the hotseat.

This is exactly my point. With all the assets they have in place already, a nice amount of picks this year, quite possibly two top 4 or 5 picks, and the most cap space possibly in the history of the league, all on a legendary franchise with a very proud history, something that a star, or two may eventually want to be a part of, at which point all of our young talent will become incredible role players around the real stars of the team. With a lot of luck this team could become a contender overnight, emphasis on A LOTTT of luck, but still possible.
The problem is, three of those assets play the same position, so two of them have to go and Noel's entering the final year of his contract next season. This is before considering the league is moving away from traditional big men and most teams value spacing, so who is gonna give up a haul for any of these guys? Their perimeter talent is putrid.

Lol @ "legendary franchise." Old does not equal "legendary." They last won a title in '83. Agents will be steering their players away from Philly because of them refusing to spend anything during Hinkie's run.

You can say they didn't want to give out a terrible contract, but they wouldn't even keep K.J. McDaniels because they didn't want to pay him $3 million. Players/agents take note of that kind of stuff. Not to mention, they've had next to no veteran influences on the team until they picked up Elton Brand this year. They just put together a collection of 19-25 year olds who have no idea what it means to be professionals, fending for themselves when half the roster is turning over each season. :snoop:

Hinkie hasn't drafted that well either. MCW in front of Giannis or even Shabazz; Okafor when they had acquired Noel and drafted Embiid/Saric the previous year; he hasn't hit on any second rounders besides K.J., who he promptly dealt. What is the plan/vision with the roster? Who's supposed to get all these big men the ball? Ish Smith? :smhkobe:

If they don't get that Lakers pick, they're gonna have their own top 3-4 pick and two late firsts in what is supposed to be a pretty weak draft.

I can't believe how optimistic ya'll are for the Sixers..

Embiid who hasn't played since he was drafted, and looks to be injury prone.
Noel who's good but obviously being overrated in this thread.
Okafor has potential but can't play defense or rebound.
And "potentially" landing Simmons/Ingram.

I wouldn't say terrible assets, but in exchange for having three of the WOAT seasons in NBA history? Unless Ingram/Simmons turn out to be a top 5 Superstar caliber player, they still won't be shyt. But shyt, I wish their fan base the best.

The trendy thing for years has been "why be a first round out every year, just blow it up and tank if you're not a contender."

Hinkie runs with that strategy and people say what he did was bad for basketball. Is it oochie wally or one mic?

You answered your own question, it's "trendy" indeed but it's a bullshyt strategy. When is teh last time a team intentionnaly tanked for multiple years and became a contender? The last succesfull "tank" I can think of is when David Robinson was injured and the Spurs just said "fukk it" and ended up with Duncan. And that was a one year "tank".

Brehs in here keep talking about "potential" and "assets", how about winning actual games? Creating a winning culture? Getting the players you already have to, I don't know, IMPROVE?

If only the NBA would clean house in Sacramento and New Orleans next. Have Vlade Divac actually make important personnel moves for your franchise instead of having a figure head, do nothing job brehs.

I agree with all this but the bolded part is the reason why his plan didn't work.

they get Ingram or Simmons this draft and his process actually worked

:yeshrug:

thats nice if we they got the top pick but you need playoff success/ championships to determine if the process worked or not
