People actually cheering this idiot on :mjlol:

He's playing the victim and a bunch of people are actually saying he's laid a good foundation down for this team. At what job are you allowed to underperform every year and keep it?

Trying to pass off his garbage under the guise of building like the Warriors. The Warriors have one of the greatest basketball minds in the front office and their best players were influenced and drafted by basketball lifers, not guys dorks pushing pencils.

I'm not buying into his BS. Only a moron would think that putting young players into the culture of being a perennial loser and door mat is a good idea.

He drafted 4 big men (1 who can't play, 2 who can't shoot, and 1 still in Europe) in the era of guards in the NBA. But he's a genius. He had no idea what he was doing. Go ahead stockpile assets while other teams actually find talent and build around it.

This dork era of GMs is coming to an end. Morey will be following right behind him.

Sounds like the concept of the draft.

Hell, sounds like the team that some of y'all are pegging as the model example of doing it right :heh:

My brother's keeper
As I said before, you have to be a fukking idiot as a GM or worse a coach to go along with multi year tanking bullshyt.

The owner might say one thing at the start, but when them Ls roll in , fan pressure builds and the money starts to dry up, your head WILL roll.

I just read his letter too. Its a little overdone with outside quotes, but I get his reasoning. He made a decision this was the path he would take the team, they obviously approved, and he left them with:

Okafor, Noel, Embiid
plethora of draft picks
best cap situation in the league

those things will result in good things for the 76ers in the next 3 or so years, and it will have been his work years ago that set the table

Well to be the devil's advocate here we were gonna have to stop tanking and build a team eventually :francis: I was always saying Hinkie wouldn't be here to see the process thru but he set us up with all these draft picks and assets for the future:yeshrug:

All we can hope for is that they don't fukk it up (they will) :mjcry:

Heinke's plan has been a success, Colango's are shyt and I don't know why they get the praise they do.
76ers owner should have stuck to his guns.

Heinke was hired on to dismantle a team that was going nowhere and actually did a decent job with acquiring "assets". The issue Heinke had, was the treatment of players during negotiations. They didn't sign vets; they went for cheap, borderline league players and also routinely low-balled free agents and 2nd round picks. Grantland had an article about how people across the league were applauding KJ McDaniels for taking the tender and bouncing.

K.J. McDaniels and How the NBA Dumps the Forgotten Lower Class

Heinke also faced serious heat because of him staying quiet as a field mouse during Okafur's legal problems. Brent Brown had to take the brunt of the media questions while Heinke hid from everyone. Bryan Colangalo might not be the best GM out there, but at least he doesn't have a shytty reputation among agents and knows how to recruit players.

Nba sacrifice

Philly getting ben simmons now for this sacrifice

Nba rewards lakers for kobe retiring and lakers keep their pick

IMO I think lottery will turn out that Philly gets #1 pick and the Lakers pick this year because of them finally deciding to be competitive again. NBA has a way of rewarding certain teams for losses (i.e. Cleveland with 3 first rounders in 4 years, New Orleans after CP3 trade, Washington after Gilbert Arenas fiasco, etc.)

This is probably the worst thing that could happen to Philly

The worst thing that could happen to the Sixers is Heinke staying in his role and free agents spurning the Sixers because he's on the other side of the negotiating table.

To put it in perspective after nets tanked and were 12-70 we had a shyt load of draft picks and cap space..we had brook, harris and favors as young players and at the time no one had more future picks and cap space than us for the next 2 yrs i think it was..king just blew the assets trying to win now.

If we had a competent GM to handle what we had we'd be in a better place now..

all philly has to do is get a competent GM and pe patient..they'll be alright.

Nah, you just got to get lucky in the draft.

Look at the best 3 players on the top teams this year, almost all of them were drafted by that team.

Assuming we get Ben or Ingram. A team can do a lot worse than a Ingram/Ben,Saric,Noel,Oakfor core with Embiid still a question mark. Do all the pieces fit? No but you upgraded the talent levels substantially and at least given yourself a shot to land the franchise guy. Noel is probably not that guy but he's a key piece and the rest of them could potentially fit that franchise role which is great. Fk that 41-41 record getting like the 15-17 pick shyt and never accomplishing anything. Go for fukkin broke.

This whole thing is why I prefer the British model of sports comps: Promotion/relegation, and young prospects are free to join nearby teams' academies without a draft or having to be a "student athlete"

Don't blame analytics for this. Some of the most simple minded people on Earth woulda told them, just go BPA, sort it out later. Morey was and is a star chaser. While he did that, he'd stack up assets and build a representative roster in the hopes of luring one. Morey woulda never been down to do what Hinkie did.

I agree with your assessment but would argue that Morey's results have still been mixed and he benefitted IMMENSELY from OKC essentially giving james harden away for free. Morey was on the hotseat the offseason leading up to that and proclaimed that Jeremy Lin would have to have an allstar type season for him to keep his job :mjlol:

As a member of #TheMoreyTeam, you don't have to tell me that Morey's wildly overrated and praised too much for not doing much.
