Maryland used to lose like that against FSU before becoming semi-decent... We were primarily a basketball school.
I remember students leaving the games at halftime to go drink and party in my first 2 years there (1999, 2000):heh:

Bellichecks kid played lacrosse at Rutgers back in the day. That and schiano worshipped beli and tried to emulate him. Made for an easy transition.

It's mind blowing how bad Rutgers had been at athletics. I understand that nj is a pro sports area and the culture isn't exactly there, but NJ is a football and basketball powerhouse. Hopefully once this big10 money starts pouring in some coach can get the ball rolling.

Harbaugh and Meyer recruit heavily in NJ where most of their blue chip recruits play HS football. Anyone who says the Northeast doesn't care about football is an idiot. Rutgers and many other schools in the east have a ton of talent in their backyards, however, they just cannot compete against the likes of Michigan and Ohio State when it comes to recruiting.
