Yes to all of those questions. SummerSlam doesn't need to be two nights. Look at the night one card versus the night two card. The only match worth getting hyped up for tomorrow is Gunther/Punk, and that's only because there's a strong possibility of you know who coming back and doing something a million people already predicted. You can tell they were trying as hard as possible to fill up the card after Evolution.
The matches themselves don't have hype, either. Are they going to deliver in the ring? More than likely. But how many of them are built up well? Iyo/Rhea/Bianca was a five-star match, but the buildup was a dumpster fire. Tiffany/Jade was set up weeks ago, and they haven't even had a face-to-face yet. That match might get no-sold by the crowd because of the lack of interest. And they're going to look like shyt next to Naomi, Rhea, and Iyo.
The presentation is just mediocre in general. Vince was the opposite because in his era, matches could end up mediocre but the storytelling more often than not delivered. Matches felt must-see, like you had to tune in to see the culmination of the story. He knew how to sell a feud. Triple H has the opposite problem. The wrestlers know how to put together great matches, but they're being given absolutely nothing in terms of story. Cena's been champion since Mania. I haven't had the urge to check out any of his matches, in his senior year as a performer. Tiffany's literally been champion all year. The highlight of her title reign was calling out Charlotte for having failed marriages, which she was reprimanded for because she went off-script. Becky literally had to come back to make Lyra look like a star and make the women's IC title mean something. The tag division is a mess in spite of the talent. None of the big storylines feel hot. Are you hot right now? Are you turned on heading into SummerSlam? I'm not.
It's bizarre because I'm telling you, WWE didn't have this problem last year. Even after Rock left, there were still interesting things happening. Right now, it just feels like content for the sake of content. If you take the card for night two of SummerSlam, and add two, maybe three matches from night one, you might have a GOAT-level card on your hands. But because it has to be two nights, you're going to get a decent show at best. We might not get anything on the level of the Judgment Day imploding, or Roman coming back.
