Dont beat down the religion, hold the people who support or go to these institutions accountable, if they dont hold their leaders accountable. Churches today need to revamp their agenda and be a center in the community not only for spiritual gain but economic gain, specifically in the black community. This is one of the few places black folks are willing to give away money without "tangible" results. So my question is why isnt your average semi-mega and mega churches not buying a franchise, employing the youth, or providing tangible programs in the church, not singles retreat and woman art thou loose seminars...I'm talking about things that bring back the men to church?
The only things they should be doing are starting and maintaining local, city-wide, state-wide, national, and international organizations built to help communities, whether its financial information groups, starting and maintaining business, food and clothing drives, alleviating homelessness and drug addiction, helping immigrant and refugee populations, rape crisis centers, after-school programs for kids age 3-20, political representation and voter registration for the people of the communities, community gardens, scholarship foundations, etc.
Not buying jets.
Not buying expensive mansions.
Not traveling around the world.
Working their fingers to the bone changing this miserable condition. That's it.
