Just about every great Mc that came out in the 90's they got their rhyme style from a Mc from the 80's.

Them 80's cats was a different breed. Slick Rick was so dope and it was his own style. Rakim had his own style, Chuck D etc

The 90's pumped out more classics but I gotta go with the 80's based on originality

The cult feeling was stronger in the 80s but the music was just more advanced in the 90's.

I was born in 1998 so my opinion may be skewed to some

I've listened to 80s rappers and their rhymes sound really basic to me, no offense

People shyt on the new nikkas but the 80s dudes were spitting nursery rhymes for real, like I KNOW I could write something better, so it baffles me how people say the 80s were the "golden age"

The 90s definitely had hard rappers though, but the 80s seem really overrated to me

Ur tripping. Cats from the 80's was the first generation to master the marriage between Lyrics and Flow

Rappers from the 80's ushered in the art of Storytelling

The 80's brang you the original and greatest Political rapper Chuck D

All this Trap Rap u hear going on in 2017 was started by Nwa and Scarface in the 80's

Perfect explanation. The forerunners for most everything was in the 80s, but the 90s was composed of individuals that studied the forerunners, and had time to refine and branch off of existing concepts, styles, content, and lyrics....to create the 90s Hip Hop :blessed:

To be fair, most of this you posted was cats who really was hitting in the late 80's..87+. If you gonna vote the 80's, you gotta take the early cats too which include a lot of ABC 123 rhymes as well.

Hands down I'm voting 90's (thread needs a poll) better production, more diversity, more advanced flows, and the culture took on a bigger than life persona (which may be viewed as by detriment to some)

My vote goes to the 90's. 80's were dope, and that's where shyt got really goin. But like ppl mentioned above, the music and rhymes were more advanced, which I believe is the main reason ppl refer to the 90's as 'the golden era of hip hop'.

Tough one......the 90's are better just due to the legends it produced and the anchor it dropped for hip hop in society at large thereafter(Tribe, Nas, NWA, big, pac, kast, wu, Jay etc.)......but the 80's is as father hood status as it gets so it loses just by a smidge for me.

90's >>> 80's >>> 00's >>> 10's
hmmm...i'd switch 00's and 10's...that snap, do this dance wave of music from 05-09 was really fukking bad, and it seemed to make more noise than the quality shyt. right now i feel like all that stupid mumble, retard shyt is more niche with the better artists getting shine (whether you like them or not)
