What? There were a lot of threads on Balor's super push, none of them positive. There are also some pretty key differences between AJ and Balor
Balor was given the keys to the kingdom from day one and has all of one impressive NXT match in nearly 2 years, and it had nothing to do with him besides him being the one to accidentally bust Joe open. AJ was destined to be Cesaro-tier until he turned shyt into gold, and he's consistently been the MVP of every show he's been on all year. He was also proven to be a draw and merch mover even with poor booking. Balor wasn't even particularly a stand out in NJPW, and his shtick got old before he even came to American. Meanwhile, AJ has been on of the top guys in the world for over a decade, and THE top guy in the world over the past 3 years. There's no comparison between the two.
As for complaints about Roman, if they had just waited to bring back Bryan until after WM, that whole backlash (

) would have never happened. Male fans were just as excited for Roman's big push as the female fans were to get his spear...until Bryan came back. Although that CM Punk podcast sure didn't help, even though the point of his "make Roman look strong" story wasn't even about Roman. Wrestling fans are stupid.
TLDR:
Balor's push is what people think Roman's push was, AJ came in with no hype and blasted out of the mid card because it couldn't contain him
