Still gives me chills. I work with an older Cac who was supposed to one of the first responders here in Jersey but he was on vacation. He still went out there to help out the but didn’t make it to the city due to the traffic and the tunnel being shut down. Back in May this year he was placed on sick leave to have a mass removed from one of his lungs :francis:

Do they though? They eat well through war, its as profitable for them as it is for the military complex here. Plus war is a great way to recruit people. Having the western countries commit war crime did more recruiting than him destroying those buildings
I mean… if you are destitute in a 3rd world country… status in a terrorist organization could give you local wealth/power…

Bin ladens family was already super rich tho….
This wasn’t about money, he believed in his ideology….

Al qaeda’s strength and operational ability is at an all time low right now… the recruitment you are talking about has been negated by 20 years of destruction and targeted assassinations. A random American teenager with a gun has more ability to cause damage than they do

i mean... most terrorist organizations have some sort of actual desire to win/make progress...

taking out a few thousands Americans in order to have hundreds of thousands of muslims killed...

Muslim countries devastated... and to be assassinated and throw out to sea by Navy seals....

I'm sure if he would have known the outcome, he would have at least tried another way...

:francis:

Nah, the terrorists who THOUGHT they were planning this (cause I still don't think it happens without the American governments sanction or at the least, them turning a blind eye because it would fit their narrative) did it to drive fear into the hearts of Americans. And they accomplished that. They made a God (America) bleed.

That still haunts Americans to this day on some level.

Man, I really wish those poor people on the planes would have fought back. If I'm on a hijacked plane, they're going to have to kill me before they do anything cause I'm gonna attack. Not just going to sit there and wait to die.
The passengers on united 93 fought back once they found out the WTC got hit. The terrorists was trying to hit the Capital building in DC but thank good for he passengers were brave enough to make sure it didn’t happen.

It's crazy that none of these guys had guns .. I'd take my chances against any Saudi with a box cutter any day. I think the passengers thought they would land eventually so they were slow to respond, sadly it cost them their lives . Rip

bin laden did have a sick ass short term pla n to inflict damage...

and it was executed pretty good...

but I bet if he would have known how many muslim bodies were gonna drop in iraq/afghanistan afterwards...

he might have had second thoughts...

plus this shyt just strengthened the U.S. military with increased budget, increased intelligence and operational leeway, and currently the largest combat experienced personnel in the world

Thing of it is, this was an endgame of sorts for this form of terrorism.

Up until this, you hijack a plane, they might capitulate to certain demands to ensure as many people make it out OK as possible.

This event turned planes into weapons, so, from this point on, any hijacker is seen as probably taking over the plane to kill everyone on board in a destructive act potentially killing more people, making any future hijacking attempts futile as those on board (staff & passengers) would individually risk death to prevent the possibility of hijackers killing everyone on board and anyone else the plane might target.

Essentially, this ended hijacking as a political ploy.

Yeah, I figure 99% of the people on the WTC flights weren't expecting the hijackers to literally fly the plane into a fukking building and kill themselves in the process too. Flight 93 caught wind of what was happening and that's made it so different

That’s actually what precisely happened. When 9/11 happened they didn’t expect it to be so successful and America’s response to be so devastating and swift.

The rise and fall of Osama Bin Laden is a good book that goes through his entire planning and network. There was really nothing sophisticated about it at all but they (Al Qaeda) also had absolutely no plan B or idea what to do after.

Mfs still saying the plane is fake in the comments :dead:
The worst thing about this era is knowing that I lived through something people are calling fake.

Second… Bin Laden didn’t blow up the projects
