Your right. Vitor is only considered HOF because of accomplishments, legendary runs (TRT Vitor), and just being a pioneer of the sport. Which makes the loss even more embarrassing

This is the problem with these type of fights, the casuals do not understand or care about context once the results are in.

They don’t care that:

-Holyfield has been washed for 25 years
-Has desperately tried to get a licence over the last decade and nobody granted him one
-Only place that would sanction him was Florida.
-Was literally a shell of a shell out there

exactly none of those punches besides the uppercut was clean. most of those punches were blocked by Holyfield's arms or glove

Dude do you not understand Holyfield has already been in numerous brutal fights, the consequences of which he's dealing with now?

He shouldn't have been in the ring that night, especially not as a late replacement. The man is barely coherent.

He is 58 years old… Not 38… not 48.. not 50, but damn near 60 years old this shyt has absolutely no significance. MMA dudes crazy and desperate. None of us would be making excuses if he wasn’t that old. Vitor being 44 and someone who is 58 is not the same at all.. To try to disregard that is ridiculous..MMA is not the same level of talent.. sorry

I'm not sure why there are people trying to argue that Holyfield was fine, and the fight should've gone longer.

They moved the card from California to Florida specifically because they weren't going to license Holyfield. Most refs will tell you that the most important aspect of their job is protecting fighters. If you're in there with a 58 year old man that had looked shaky in the lead up, and can't get a license in on of the biggest states the sport runs in, you're probably going to be quick on the trigger for the stoppage. Even if you argue that most of those shots weren't landing cleanly, Holyfield wasn't showing any kind of evidence that the rest of the fight wasn't just going to be him turtled up and absorbing punches. No need to let that go multiple rounds.
