Are there people arguing that the cop acted in an illegal manner? The cop acted within the law, I don't think any reasonable person would argue against that. Problem was, this is a matter of cop discretion. Was there a point at which she declined the ticket? Technically yes, even though she likely didn't realize her flippant "no" was confirmation of her refusal to sign and that it was a guarantee of jail time (holding) until her signature is obtained.

But, this thread will serve as reference for any future interactions where cops act within the law, but the outcome could have been avoided with cop discretion, I hope to see consistency in the future. :troll:

For anyone wondering what that implies.

I'm confused why the cop:

- Didn't tell them to go home

- Ran their IDs for just standing there

No one can justify this

Nah, don't argue the position, save this thread for future reference. This is 100% a matter of cop discretion, I want the same responses from the same responders from this point on. For me, it didn't matter if that person was male or female, white, black, asian, w/e, my take is the same.

Yall dont wanna get into a right vs wrong convo... I SWEAR you don't :francis:
I get what you’re getting at. But there is a zero win situation resisting arrest. Your battle is in the courts not the streets, you will NEVER win.

But looking at the full footage, I don’t know how you can say the idiot was right in any way. Dude was super cordial until he couldn’t be any longer.

Breh this was a elementary interaction with law enforcement. If you can't maneuver through this shyt, you pretty much a kid that needs to be pampered until you die. I've come to the conclusion that people won't receive anything less than "let me do whatever I wanna do".

Sign the citation, go to court, get the shyt thrown out. Thee end.

"No Trespassing" and "Park Hours" signs told them to go home.

Their car is running in the background, they were obviously inside it when they were contacted, not "just standing there."

Everyone can justify this.

I agree.

UP UNTIL THE CUFFS CAME OUT...the cop was 100% in the wrong.

Dude was just not following any sort of protocol. From the initial engagement to the ticket to the instructions.
