I dont like even talking about the law here.I think most here really don't understand the discretion part. They are acting hyper-logical, when there is no logic with cop discretion given so many variables with each individual cop. But from the hyper-logical approach, yeah, the cop was justified in every action. I just expect consistency in the future from these posters.
The cop discretion matters more. Thats how they establish rapport and encourage compliance and coercion.
Imagine you're in this safe-ass park, then the cop rolls up and tells you park is closed...AIGHT bet I'm out...oh wait...now cop wants your ID? Wait what? What for?
...wait...I'm now getting ticket?! This ain't even a traffic stop? Bruh if you ask me to leave I'm LEAVING. SHE WAS RIGHT TO ASK IF THIS WAS NECESSARY.

CAN the cop do this? Yeah. Sure. He can arrest everyone for walking outside of the white lines at a cross walk.
The fact he ain't even ask them to leave is just stunning to me. Who does that? Then he's pulling ID cards? Son, this isn't even a traffic stop and you dont see any illegal activity. And its not like its HOURS after the park closed. The shyt closed at 11PM...and the cop pulls up basically at 11:50...which is way after dark. Might as well close the parks at 9:30 if you wanna pull that shyt.
CAN he ticket them? Yeah. Should he? No. You ticket offenders if you get unnecessary push back from leaving or if you see them doing reckless shyt or something like indecent exposure etc.
Tickets exist for a reason. Thats why cops go "if you dont do X, you're gonna get a ticket...THEN DETAIL...THEN JAIL"

I’m only commenting on what I quoted, not the nuances of the situation. You cannot state they were in the park 50 minutes after closing, and then state they did nothing wrong. Yeah they did do something wrong, they were in a closed park.
