I rate 9th a lot as a producer. One of my favourites. But he's work on Jay's Threats was a shocking example of copy my homework and dont change anything.

Personally I don’t see a problem with how old the sample is. The problem is they’re going back and sampling Hip Hop songs and not doing a damn thing with the sample. There’s millions of songs of other genres from 1998 or 2004 to sample from but they’re just using a Hip Hop song and making another hip hop beat out of it. The whole point of sampling is usually to take something and make something ELSE out of it.

Only 2 years apart and this is one of CNN's best songs. The time ain't the problem...the level of talent is

that's completely different, the sample is a score from a movie, 9th is talking about cats sampling songs that were already Hip Hop beats and are not changing anything except adding trap style drums.
