I dont understand what you mean? I liked the soul for real joint as a kid....

It's not the same song lol. It's the "I'm Different" R&B remix with a rapper wacker than 2Chainz.

It doesn't even have the same vibe...

Personally, I got no problem with remakes...but let it be similar at least...

I don't like this remake of a song but the original Candy Rain was a sample from Minnie Rippleton and like many other 90's R&B tracks was sampled first by a HIPHOP group (ATCQ) then looped and sprinkled with some synth sounds to glossy it up for an R&B track and that was the formula for a lot of mid 90's R&B songs. (Total's "Can't You See," 702 "Steelos," half of 112's Catalog under Bad Boy) so because of that I can't hate too hard on this remix But naw I personally can't fukk with it but considering the caliber of SINGERs out now this song COULD'VE BEEN MUCH WORSE.

No AUTOTUNE :whew:

People arent just saying "they dont like it", they're getting all territorial and acting like its an outrage that a younger artist remade a song from their upbringing, and ripping at him it in exactly the same ways that the older generation used to blindly hate on artists and songs we liked which were samples or remakes.

And understand this....this kid probably wasnt even born when Candy rain came out, and they're definitely marketing to a base of kids who werent born when candy rain was popular. Thats the way these things work. The producers updated the song to sounds that are familiar and accessible to whats hot now, so that a younger generation can enjoy it. I have a 14 year old sister, and Id much rather her listen to this song, which is a song I loved as a kid, then some bullsht Tray songz type nonsense. The kid can sing, and he did a good job with it. The song isnt marketed for you. Just listen to the original if this bothers y'all. Damn people get old, and forget what it was like when they were young.

Dude, I understand the music biz better than you know. Yes, I understand they update the sounds to sound current. :comeon:

As far as this song not being "marketed towards me", that's foolishness b/c I like plenty of new songs with all sorts of production techniques in every genre. The only thing I like about this song is they played the string synth melody which is similar to the original.

Again, just b/c this kid can stay on key doesnt mean I have to like his version. There's a billion remakes of songs, doesnt mean I have to like everyones versions. Do you like every remake of Marvin Gaye "What's Going On"?

I dont like his vocal tone, he lacks the "soul/emotion" of the original singer. That doesnt make me a "hater" it just means I don't like his version.

And for the record this song is my LEAST favorite "Soul 4 Real" single. So it really isnt even that important to me as a song.

When you mix fake ass 808s, auto tune, and crappy rapping on a classic song, you know black music failed the youth of today. The young generation didn't have their skill or vocal range exercised at a young age because they came up in the era of Lil Jon and they apparently skipped church for the club. Music is just a commodity now.

Not feeling this one too much but I wasn't much of a fan of the original either. Candy Rain was ok but I liked their 2nd single much more "Every little thing I do" I believe it was.

First time I heard Tears of Fears "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" I accepted it, whether you call it recycling, borrowing, improving or butchering. You'd be surprised how many of the songs you call Classics are just a new (now old) spin on an older song.

ima say a few things here

between the bay heavy influenced beat (im different mixed up) and the turfing goin on at one point in the video if this kid is from the bay i never heard of him before this song :yeshrug: if he from the bay then goodluck with it :yeshrug:

its not THAT bad of a remake, if you never heard the original, this would still be a decent song except the rapping part

but im not gone sit here and lie. I heard this randomly on the day I cancelled my pandora and when I first bought spotify one of the first songs I added to my playlists was the original version :lawd:
