When Shumpert got a 40 million dollar contract the gates opened up.

Glad to see the Nets are doing it the right way, developing our young talent. Russell will be our biggest contract when he re-signs

Well...certain teams who can afford it need to take advantage of the situation......It Portland has a player that you're interested in,but you don't have the assets to make the trade.Take back a bad contract to close the deal.

Masai did it right all of raptors bench are guys on rookie deals cept miles and Powell

And it's gonna be like the NHL soon, where teams will fill half their roster with young cheap guys

Those 2nd round picks and two-way roster spots are going to be more valuable than ever. Every team could use a contributor at the minimum for 3-4 years

The Celtics, Spurs and Heat built their bench the same way too. The Lakers are doing the same now too, they have a lot of interesting young pieces on the bench. It's just a sensible thing to do. I think less and less teams will draft projects when they're picking in the 20-30 range now. The days of picking someone like a Bruno or Chris McCullough and waiting 4 years for them to develop into a rotational piece are over

problem wasnt the amounts they paid out, since with the floor you HAVE to pay someone. problem was they doled out so many 4-5 year deals to marginal players. pay a lil more for a 1-2 year deal so youre not hamstrung for years down the line. no forward thinking at all

Tbh the Wiz need to move on from Gortat and play McCullough

McCullough doesn't seem to be an NBA player.

Those franchises know what they're doing. Scouting, drafting and stashing, and using the G-League effectively.

Nah, Brooks don’t give him enough burn. When he’s out there he makes impressive plays chasedown blocks, putback dunks, not afraid to shoot J’s. He barely plays and has some of the best PER and per 36 minute numbers on the team. You can’t see if he an NBA player without playing him, I wanna see a line-up of McCullough, Porter, Oubre, Beal, and Wall.

Y’all was playing Frazier over Satoransky too. Seems to me Brooks ain’t managing his young talent correctly.

I think one change that will help a lot is if they tied contracts to a percentage of the salary cap. What kills a lot of this teams it that the annual raise of 8 with bird rights or 5 for free agents. If the salary cap remains relatively flat by the fourth year instead of the 30% of cap they signed to take up they could end up taking up close to 40%. So even teams with stars end up in even more of a crunch. If you have two stars its a wrap basically. I wonder if something like if you sign a max player they only count for 30 or 35% of the cap even if the money made eclipses that if it would make things more manageable.
