Nkalakatha!
Lows in the 50s, highs about 65. It’s winter there and for me it was mild and comfortableHow cold is it out there since you got a hoody and jacket on?
-The food is dirt cheap, had a meal for 2 in a high end restaurant that was excellent that would have coasted $200 + in NYC. The meal was like $40 US Jo’berg after tip.How much was the food on average?
How was the nightlife?
What city were you in?
Safety concerns?
This was pretty much my experience there as well. I went in their summer last November though.-The food is dirt cheap, had a meal for 2 in a high end restaurant that was excellent that would have coasted $200 + in NYC. The meal was like $40 US Jo’berg after tip.
-I went out in capetown, to a lounge in a hotel and it was like a full fledged nightclub. It was full of fine women but it was heavy “I only talk to rich nikka” vibes. It was a cool experience
- I spent time in Jo’berg and capetown
-Jo’berg you need to stay on point. Crime is high. Got a lot of warning about phone snatchings, ETC. And Black people was giving the warnings I don’t take warnings like that serious for “others”.
I have to say, I didn’t experience any crime and nobody tried me.
The worst thing I experienced was people in Soweto begging for money and in both Soweto and maboneng people with out permission putting a DSLR in your face and trying to sell you pictures of yourself.
Capetown will have you letting your guard down. I stayed on point there too but it definitely didn’t feel like a place you need to stay on point despite warnings I had heard
Same thing here in Babylon. What bothered me about the experience was learning about the conflicts in South Africa between some black South Africans and immigrants from other African nations.

I'm still hot about it!
I went at the wrong time. I didn't have the clothes for the winter so I was really uncomfortable. Didn't enjoy my time there at all!Lows in the 50s, highs about 65. It’s winter there and for me it was mild and comfortable
Doesn’t sound like a problem, it’s malls everywhere and everything is dirt cheap. Coulda copped some layers for the low and kept it movingI went at the wrong time. I didn't have the clothes for the winter so I was really uncomfortable. Didn't enjoy my time there at all!
Just like ADOS/FBA vs Immigrants in America, im surprised that kinda vibe was a shock to an American....especially one that posts on thecoliWhat bothered me about the experience was learning about the conflicts in South Africa between some black South Africans and immigrants from other African nations.
Also, the fact that Africans are “the help” anywhere that’s affluent. You can feel the class system is still intact from apartheid and the wealth disparity is obvious. I hated that
