A conscious African American can never truly be patriotic

The problem is who are the Black Leaders...? Jay Z, Puff Daddy, Russel Wilson, Al Sharpton, Beyonce....?

Who are the visionaries....? Who is that person that black people 100 years from now will celebrate as their "Moses" "King David" and etc...

I honestly believe black people have NO CHANCE...The best is to intermarry and have mixed race children that will look less and less black over the years, and face less and less discrimination...

That's the future I see for "blacks" in America....More Blake Griffins, Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson...With the lack of leadership, the lack of a sense of nationalism and too much focus on entertainment and business, and not science and innovation, and then you have the Latinos increasing in numbers....

Who are the black leaders looking at these factors and thinking "Oh shyt, we have to get ourselves organized and unionised, so we can protect our children's future?"

I dont fully agree. I think we as blacks have those things but they exist in the context of the overall American system and do not benefit the black community specifically, the blacks with those skills are well rewarded though.

well the numbers say that black people are lacking in skills, from the the number of HS graduates to the number of PhDs, black people are lacking and way behind

i think the better way to look at it is not just numbers but more important factor is critical mass, for example lets we wanted to build a cell phone, an electric car or plane
the reality that is that black people havent developed the infrastructure and economics system to develop makes those things with just black people

now in an an interconnected world there isnt any real reason to just use black people to build a cellphone (for example), but its the principal of the matter, black people dont have a self sustaining system to build technologies and that is due to the lack of critical mass in terms of skills and education, from PhD on down

that is why the thread on STEM is so important, as you can see people see a phd as a side issue and not the foundation of prosperity, thats something that needs to be changed, no group or community can proper with that kind of mentality

I believe blacks can live and prosper in America, provided they stop embracing the destructive aspects of white culture, such as luxury brands consumerism while incurring debt, being infatuated with sports and being a rapper over science and other forms of technical know how, but the key thing is always recognizing that this country will not help your community hence you should burden that responsibility along with fellow successful blacks who want to bring forward a more advanced african american population.

Yea, Im thinking about doing my phd but why stay in school 5-7 more years. Thats half a million minimum in opportunity costs.

Well it's not for everybody, I can't see myself doing it either cuz of my grades, but if you have a chance you should do it, I don't think the opportunity coat is that high, when you add the non tangible benefits and new doors a phd degree opens and you are adding to the critical mass

since im not moving, i want america to be safe, and i like rooting for american athletes in the olympics. outside of that, i have no emotions about this country. it is filled to the brim with people who plot and act to exploit me for profit, political gain, and self esteem, so i will always see myself as an "other" here.

since we never got reparations, i dont feel the need to give up what little i do get from being a citizen. i am well within my rights to call certain people cacs and still collect social security when the time is right.
