A credit card should not be used for emergencies. It's a trap to stay in debt.

How much money are you guys getting from the cash back points yearly?

I just checked this out across all of my cards I use just the cash back $3200. But I haven’t been spending as much since I’m actually trying to invest more often. I bet you big spenders or those paying rent and everything are getting over $5000

Is your credit score good? This might sound counter intuitive, but as you're probably getting hit over the head with interest, opening another credit card with a promo 0% APR on balance transfers could be a good idea.

A card like the Citi Diamond Preferred gives you 0% APR on balance transfers for 18 months. You may need to pay a small fee like 2 or 3% of the balance, but that's better than 21% APR or whatever you're probably paying now. So you'll have 18 months to kill that balance with no interest accruing. You still need to make your monthly minimum payment by the way.

Just make sure you cut up both cards once you're all set with the balance transfer. I don't think credit cards are for you

Never get a credit that's more than what you have in your own bank

Pre covid I was balling :smugdraper:. I had 9,000 in the bank and 6,000 cash. I got the cc through my bank. They approved me for 5200 :whew:

:manny:

Cut them up and payoff ASAP!

I will breh. But I need these for emergency. My belt shredded on my car about an hour ago :damn:. I just got back in the house. :mjcry:. In the morning I'm going buy a new serpentine and put it on.

Only reason you need a cc is.
If you go out of town and need to have a cc to rent a car.

shyt bogus how rental cars prey and steal from people out of town. Yet you will be stranded.
if you can nOt play.

Agree or nah?

Disagree. You should use a credit card with reward points for everything. Zero out the balance every month. Moving from a one checking account backed by a savings account approach to reward credit cards backed by checking accounts backed by savings is so much better for me.

You can dispute any transaction on your credit card. You get extended warranty on devices. You don’t have to worry about overdrafting. And you are stacking reward points, so you get money back for spending. The only catch is maintaining a zero balance.

I don’t know if it’s good advice or not, but when your reward points really start stacking up it becomes your protection from over spending (emergency fund). So your bank account got even more of a cushion. My bro in law do a lot of traveling for his job. He puts everything on a credit card, pays it off, and gets reimbursed. His reward points are ridiculous. All of that is free money.

Cash back usually the lower tier reward.

you want them cards with 3-5 x point value for spending on specific categories like travel/gas/ groceries. I’m earning what equates to about $18 per week in addition to the fact that got global entry and a free year of Amazon prime
