Yup thats why i sticky the thread the kid has skills. But i see the coli purist dont think so.

Coli purists :russ:

You cannot be a hip hop purist under the age of 28..
This kid has mad verbal skills. They don't sign rappers based on that element anymore..what he needs like I've said before is to work with a Jd or diddy who'll calm him down and teach him better structure..simple.

He's with RA, I doubt AFRO will blow up. RA's one of those underground/popular on the internet type of guys..like Hopsin for example. I doubt he'd be able to put him on the mainstream lane

MIA to ATL
Talented. A rare type of talent. But he lacks musicality right now. People of his generation aren't going to gravitate towards this type of music.

I mean new when it comes to the current scene.

In the current scene this is something new and different.

I feel what you're saying, but dude aint even lyrically solid like that at this point. Take the song "Infantry"...

"Most nikkas is like potato puffs
Rough war tore, your rotator cuff
Ain't enough, to say goodbye to your siblings
They die the same time, as your kiddings
Had the man's children, camera filming
See the Holocaust boy get tossed off the building
Bewildered, by environment, my assignment?
Pillars, of lion diets, mic sirens
Electricity fused fingers will give me power
Next simplicity dude, give em the shower
My tapes stay visionary,
My brainwaves read every page of the dictionary
Bigotry blissfully brilliantly visibly
Killing chivalry, density differently, dignity dismally
distrophy finicky, physically, fitfully giggly
History, imagery, industry infamy infinity...
Infantry at the weapon shop
Military predictably set the clock
Experimental makeshift, with the rages
Detrimental phases, for your mental stages
Rock shop illa, nonstop killa,
Glock gorilla, shoot the snot box off Matilda
The man greezy, slap meeting on the floor
My man Sam sleazy, faded on the go"

Dude is mimicking mf doom's style but without the reality or the continuity that mf doom's lyrics are grounded by. He tried to do the alphabetical slaughter with all that dictionary bullshyt but he literally ripped shyt out of the dictionary that rhymed without any intention behind the words. The first five bars stay on the topic of war but become non-senquitor a few bars later.

He can rhyme words and has an ear for the flow of the words but has no lyrical ability in terms of making a statement. Hip Hop is about making a statement whether it's about yourself, about the struggle, about the club, etc. this dude doesn't know what he's about (as a rapper) and as a result the words sound empty.

All of the trap rappers yall are shytting on in this thread know how to make a statement... If anything, it's the most basic and most essential skill of songwriting.

He still is doing better than Future, Young Thug and Fetty Wap.

For all we know he could be leading the way for more talented lyrical cats.

Look at it as chess not checkers.

At this point I disagree with that. Young Thug is far more creative as far as delivery, far more streamlined in terms of making a cohesive song, more complex in terms of rhythm and is able to convey real emotion. Future has more emotion in his delivery and can write a lyrically cohesive song with an actual center. He writes songs for a specific purpose and audience, i.e. he can write a song aimed at the streets, the club or himself.

This dude Afro is mimicking his childhood heroes but doesn't have a voice of his own. It's impossible to know where he's coming from on a song like "infantry" because it was written without a point and definitely without emotion.

Sir Future and Young Thug is doing something that has been done in mainstream for years and never left.

What Afro is doing has left hip hop and he is bringing it back.

You yourself said that he is mimicking his childhood heroes which properly shows that the style he is doing has been absent from hop hop for awhile. :sas2:
